Assign different discounts to different user groups

Can I assign different discounts to different user groups?
I know I can do it with the wholesale account. But I want more groups with different discounts.

For example:

user group 1 gets 10% off
user group 2 gets 20% off
and so on

or with a fixed amount:

user group 1 gets 5.00 $ discount on all products
user group 2 gets 10.00 $ discount on all products
and so on

Is this possible and how would I configure this?

Re: Assign different discounts to different user groups

Something like this is not supported "out of the box" and would require a custom modification.  We've done something similar for another customer though it was specific pricing for different groups and not a percentage or specific discount amount.

Re: Assign different discounts to different user groups

I need to be able to do this also.

How much work would be involved and would it be worth attempting it myself?

Can anyone give any pointers on how to achieve this or how to go about having this type of functionality added?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Assign different discounts to different user groups

If you still haven't done it and still want to do it, here is the way I do it:

I copied all products and changed the first digit of the order number from 1 to 2 and assigned these new order numbers to a new group which I created. This I made for several groups so that the product database contains about 70.000 records. But this is not a problem.

Thanks for that Shopper, I'll certainly look into that way of going about it.
