anyone know how i can combine duplicate items in the cart and apply the volume pricing?
for example, if they add 20 of to their cart and then add 20 more later, they should be charged the "24-239" rate, but they are charged the "1-23" rate...
the best solution is to look when an item is added to the cart and see if the item is already in the cart (adjusting the quantity if it is)
i know that the proper way to add more of an item is to adjust the quantity in the cart, but we're dealing with humans here.... ;-)

Hi
It is not as easy as just see if the item is already in the cart, if the item has options then the options would have to be the same. Eg 20 cups, option blue is not the same as 20 cups, option red.
As you say they can us the cart update to increase the number of item they want to purchase.
When the customer adds the same item twice or more to the cart they can ship them to separate address (if that is enabled)

in my case i have disabled multiple shipping addresses and there are no options, so if someone could point me to the place where i could add this code, i'd appreciate it

For the reasons Howard mentioned, that's why CCP does not combine items on the add to cart requests. I'm looking at possibly changing this in version 6.

I would love to see this feature, at least as an option.
Many of my products are in multiple categories, so it's a common mistake for my customers to add the same item twice.
We don't offer volume pricing - the problem is that the customer accidentally orders twice as many as he really wanted.
BTW we don't use options, we have a separate item number for each style/color/etc., so the problem mentioned in the previous post wouldn't affect my shop.
FYI,
Nathan
