Cart not working after update

I updated my wifes website from the first release to the latest according to the instructions by deleting several items out of the database prior to the update. I ran the update and then did the deletion of the demo products and did the other SQL statements as directed.
Now when adding products to the cart it takes you to the page that say's "Thank you. The item you selected has been added. Please continue shopping or checkout." but the cart is empty.
I checked the cookie settings and they are OK.
What gives?
Thanks
Greg

Re: Cart not working after update

I think there are recent posts here discussing this problem. Looks like spaces in your product ID's are causing this problem. Try this...go into manage online store products and clone one of your produts. Your product identifier does not need to be the description or the title. We use SKU's or part numbers. Use a short one like for a particular bracelet use B001. Keep everything else the same. Once you add that product, go to the store and try adding it to the cart. It will probably work. Oh...and change the display name slightly so you'll know which of the two identical products to add to the cart.

Re: Cart not working after update

I cloned a product that has ID eg33 and made the clone ID eg333 and when I did a search of eg333 I got one product with ID eg33 which I was able to add to the cart. I went and did another search using ID eg33 and it pulled two identical products both with ID eg33. I was able to add one to the cart and not the other. I did this with five different products and they all did the same thing. Now the only fix I see is to clone all my wifes products and go back and delete the originals. I still don't understand why the cloned products don't show the right ID, ie eg333 shows eg33, eg155 shows eg15 etc. Why does the last digit get stripped?
I wish I never ran the update. What a pain.
