I'm getting no answers to emails to kryptonics and no return calls.
I attempted to update using installer 6.6.1. Got URL error. Spoke via email with Nick. Got this fixed.
Started getting problems connecting with mysql db. Decided I would delete db and use a new one. DUMB!!! Because I had backed up my website, I assumed the mysql db was there. WRONG! The mysql db was on hosts server and not on website.
I uploaded my backup and contacted host to confirm that once the db was deleted, there was no way to recover it. They also told me that the reason that the installer would not connect with the new db was because there were no tables in the new db. I've even tried to start from scratch but the link to the original CCP6 is no longer working. I seem to have everything but the db.
I need some direction.
Thanks,
Mitch

As long as the database has been recreated on your host select the options in the latter stages of the installer that tell it to reload all of the tables. Since you've run the installer before the flags are set that indicate the database has already been loaded. There is a checkbox in the installer that tells it to reload everything regardless of what the flags say.

I deleted the five files with the installer and re-uploaded them. When asked regarding the pear modules, I told installer to upload and overwrite. When asked regarding Hybrid X Core, again I told it to upload and overwrite. When I get to db info, I give it database host name: localhost, database name, username and password. I still get the following:
An error was encountered while creating a new KHXC object. Error Information: The KHXC constructor function was accessed during initialization by an Installer interface with a password, however the password supplied could not be validated.

There are 2 configuration files and if you only deleted the one in the public directory it may be the reason you are getting that error. If you haven't made modifications to the code and want to start from scratch you'll want to delete everything in the private directory as well as config.php in the public directory. Then run through the installer and tell it to reload/reinstall everything.

I hear your pain Mwoodxray. We have paid Nick to complete a new module the community might like but he doesn't seem to be around these days. Its like he disppeared. All calls and emails go unanswered for a hire by pay job.
Nick does great work but this is frustrating.
