I see that I cannot install on our ISP's web server and their ssl server and have it work. Installing this software only on the SSL is not an option. Either is only installing it on the unsecure web server. We use Verisign as a third party. What can I do? I have already purchased the software. Can I somehow make this work. There is not much in this forum about this.
Thanks,
Mike

When running the installer you'll have the option of naming two URLs associated with the software. One is for non secure http and the other for secure https. Enter the two URLs appropriately and you should be able to install on both.

I understand that. My ISP has a different SSL server than the www server. A member posted this:
As with CCP5.1, CCP6 you need to have the secure and non secure parts of the website on the same physical server.
So what do I do now?

What thread was that from? I was under the impression that the shared ssl cert could be on a separate physical server with V6.

That's the thread I remember reading. It really doesn't address a ssl cert on a physically different machine. Maybe Nick can clarify this. Have you tried setting it up?

I think you're putting the cart before the horse. It don't make a difference if they use two different servers the only thing you need to do is keep the domain name the same and and use the two different paths (ie.http and https). The central server Nick uses associates the domain name with the licence key and not the server persay. The paths are for the scripts.

Actually they will need to be on the same server for the SSL URL to work. This can be done by installing your own cert and doing a symlink for the SSL directory.

Is there no way to have the program to differentiate between two servers? I figured it would only be a matter of entering the secure and non-secure server paths.
Now that I think about it. it makes sense the program needs to be on a single server and wouldn't be able to work correctly between two different ones.
Sorry,

Exactly. There is a whole filesystem and database connection to deal with. It can't run virtually.

Is it possible to use https:// for both? Like, I want to use the https:// for the secure and for the regular URL but I don't want to go in and change it until I know it will really work. Thanks!

It will certainly work but there is overhead involved with using a secure connection which is why sites usually only secure the areas where sensitive data are being passed.

Thank you!

I had to do this as well for my 5.1 installation. Tell your admin it's a "symbolic link" if they tilt their head and look puzzled when you say symlink.
