Re: Hosting At Godaddy

I have tried many installs at Godaddy and have never had one be successful.  They do not have all the necessary modules in their Perl installations to support CCP and so far have been unwilling to make any changes to accomodate running this script.

THIRDSPHERE HOSTING () seem to look after their customers very well.  Their servers are extremely fast, support is only an email away and they install perl modules in the best interests of their clients.    Last week I asked them to install the SSL perl modules for Fedex connection and they said no problem we'll do that tonight for you.  Clickcartpro, amongst other important software I run on the server all run without fail.

I recommend you should give them a go.

Re: Hosting At Godaddy

It seems now that it depends on the server that they put you on.  All I can say about them is that you will have to try it.  I haven't had a lot of luck with them but have had a few successful installs lately.

Re: Hosting At Godaddy

I was successfully able to install Clickcart just today on a GoDaddy server.  I must have lucked out!

Re: Hosting At Godaddy

I was able to install one the other day also.  Must be they have a new batch of servers that have the updated software.  Not sure about the modules to run realtime shipping yet.  Need to check into it a little more.

Re: Hosting At Godaddy

I have a client interested in hosting with GoDaddy, and this shopping cart software seems to be one of the better ones.  Has anyone tried installing on one of GoDaddy's shared hosting accounts, or will it only work on a dedicated or virtual dedicated server?

Re: Hosting At Godaddy

It has been a crap shoot on GoDaddys shared hosting.  On some servers, it is no problem, on others, no luck.  You will just have to roll the dice and see what happens.  Or you could convince your client that it would be better to go with an approved CCP hosting partner listed on this page:

They will get it right the first time!

Re: Hosting At Godaddy

GoDaddy, as a client of ours so eloquently put it, is the McDonalds of hosting.  They overload their servers so that they can fatten their pockets with the money of hardworking customers who feel that their is no better alternative.

I would run as fast as possible away from GoDaddy and McDonalds for that matter.  My experiences with them have left much to be desired.

Re: Hosting At Godaddy

FWIW,  runs CCP, sites start at $9/month (or $8.10/month by the year).

Disclaimer: I worked for them for 8 years.

Depending on what payment processor you use you may need to cough up $25 if you need some non-standard variant of curl installed (one site did so far), but my CCP site works on a vanilla site.

Re: Hosting At Godaddy

I fail to understand why any host would charge for something as simple a cURL!  I have it and every other requirement to run CCP on my servers for prices starting at $9.95 by the month or $8.33 a month if you pay by the year.

He needed something unusual beyond the basic curl executable.
