I have asked this question before and never really got anywhere with it.
I have a CCP site that uses MySQL. The file size is about 1000kb and the store has about 2000 products.
In CSV mode I can convert to MySQL without any problems.
My problem starts when I convert from MySQL to CSV mode.
9 out of 10 times I get a timeout occur, at this stage I can not tell if the system is running in CSV or MySQL mode. I usually have to hit the back button to get the page to show and then view page again. At this time the CSV file should be about 1000kb on the server but obviously in the middle of being changed gets corrupt and can be anything from between 30kb to 150kb, there is only about 200 lines of data. This file should be about 1000kb and closer to 2000 lines.
Does anyone else get this problem, or can anyone suggest a reason why this is happening. My client is the one doing the uploading and changing and understandably it's starting to get on their nerves.
I'd appreciate some input from Nick if your about.....
thanks

This

sounds like your server is cuasing the conversion to fail. Either by limiting the resources you can use, or stopping the process from running.
Have you contacted your host about this, and ask them about this.

hi,
Nope, I had not considered this. I have a dedicated server so if there is any restrictions in place it would be myself that sets them.
After saying that, Why would the resources used for csv to mysql be any different to the resources used when converting to mysql as there is no problem doing that.
I have set no limits but will check into this first.

Tonight I have made some changes to the product.csv file.
I have tried to change it firstly from MySQL to csv but it timed out. The product file become corrupt and it was over 1500kb. It should be about 440kb.
I then edited the tables.csv to CSV, uploaded them and tried to convert this from CSV to MySQL.
still not working. Still have problems and now I have over 1000 products missing and a site slower than a snail!!....
thanks

If you have something like phpmyadmin on your server, you can dump the products tables into a csv, and download it, then rename it to products.csv.
As for why this is happening, I am not sure, could be a server setting, could be a mysql issue, could be that there is some syntax in the products tables that is cuasing the system to hang.
I am not really sure. :-(

Do you have a space problem on your site? I know that you said that you have a dedicated server, but is it possible you need to enlarge the space allotted to your site?

Not a space problem. I have the setting for this site set to unlimited.

I now have it in csv mode.
I can not get it to convert back to mySQL mode. It just times out!....
