Moved Site / Domain

I tar'ed up my working site and moved it to a differnet domain name on the the same server . Un-tarred changed ownership and checked permissions , everything looked good . Updated the cp-app.cgi and the cp-admin.cgi and all paths are good .
Everything works fine EXCEPT the SEO links , I get a page not found for all SEO type links , however all the "normal" CCP51 links are fine and everything works well except the SEO stuff . I email Mark a while ago and did some searching here ( can't really search SEO , too short ) can't seem to find an answer and still waiting for Mark to respond .

Anybody else run into this ?

Re: Moved Site / Domain

make sure you transfered the .htaccess files. sometimes tar does not grab those.

Re: Moved Site / Domain

You are so right James , thank you ! Yes the links now function however with the .htaccess file in my root directory it causes EVERYTHING to redirect to CCP51 !

I want to run CCP51 as a shopping cart within the main site and when I put the .htaccess file in the public_html directory , users are redirected to the CCP51 store and never see the actual website .

I tried just putting the .htaccess file in the CCP51 direstory but then the links stop working ...............

Re: Moved Site / Domain

Look at the paths within the .htaccess file and modify those accordingly.

I tried that by putting the .htaccess file in the ccp51 folder and then changing the paths to reflect the new home of the .htaccess file but , then the links fail to function .

Re: Moved Site / Domain

i did email mark several hours ago and he did respond once about making sure I copied the .htaccess file , I emailed again with the specifics of trying to run it as a cart and not as a website and havn't heard back from him yet . Figured I might get a faster answer here .

Yes I did update everything else and everything is working fine except the SEO links and the SEO links do work fine if I put the .htaccess file in the public_html directory . Thats what makes it so perplexing to me . In  theory I should be able to place a copy of the .htaccess file in the ccp51 folder and run the store from there but for some reason ( probably a path issue ) it will not accept the .htaccess file in that location . I also modified the .htaccess file to reflect the current path when I put it in the ccp51 folder but to no avail .

At this point I think I'm just going to wait for Mark to respond and see what he says about it .

Thank you for all your help !

Re: Moved Site / Domain

Okay Mark responded and here is the answer :

Having the cart as the site home page is an option with the SEO module, not a requirement.

Just remove or comment out with a # the line in the .htaccess that starts with

RewriteRule ^$

And the regular site home page will come up as the home page again

Thanks again Mark and all who contributed !
