Installation Problem

Hey guys,

Im a new clickcart user and I'm having some problem with the basic installation of clickcart onto my server. I have uploaded by FTP into my home directory /html/, and in correct binary/ascII mode. I have tried installing the cgi-bin folder in both the cgi folder provided for me from my hosting company(wwwaplus.net) as well as in the original location within cccp51/cgi-bin/. I have checked and double checked the .cgi files for accuracy. I changed the perl directory to /usr/local/bin/perl. And I still get a HTTP 500 Internal server error. Can suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. I have to get this site running soon and this is really starting to get to me.

Thanks in advance ladies & gents,

Ali Nadimi

Re: Installation Problem

Everything you said sounds good, b ut did you change all permissions on all files and directories?

Re: Installation Problem

If you have access to you error log see what shows up there - you might at least get a clue if you're still having problems.  You may have done everything by the book and have some other issue, like server memory, and that might point you in the right direction.

Re: Installation Problem

I just emailed you terry,

I spoke to a technitian today, I dont have direct access to my error log, but he told me on his side there was a problem with the .cgi script. I'm not sure if that helps any.

Thanks alot

Re: Installation Problem

I have run into these problems before when the cp-app.cgi and cp-admin.cgi became corrupt (somehow I don't know) and I started with two new fresh files.

Also make sure you host has the neccessary perl modules installed.

But I would have to say that the majority of time it is a permission issue. But if you have installed it using SSH and you got the same error check one of two things:

1) The cp-app and cp-admin scripts
2) When you log into SSH is it the same login username and password as your FTP account, if not you will have to change the ownership of those files to the ftp account username.

I had these two issues happen to me recently and it took me forever in a day to figure out what was going on.

Also one time I accidentally tried to use the 5.0 cp-app and cp-admin script in the tiki version. That will cause problems also.

Re: Installation Problem

Got it working.  The problem was two fold.  The paths were not set correctly and the permissions in the cgi-bin were set to 775.  On all my servers, the script will refuse to operate on permissions over 755..

Re: Installation Problem

Ali,
I'f you start having problems with your cart being turned off it's Aplus.net.  I was with them and had to leave last March because they told me I couldn't run the ccp admin.pl because it was overtasking they're system.  I went with Terry at Hosttec have had no problems , better service and saved money. -Steve

Re: Installation Problem

How hard is it to change to a different hosting provider once the online cart is completely set up? If im considering doing it, should i wait on setting up my ccp51 account, until i switch, or does it matter?

Re: Installation Problem

I had around 1,000 products entered at the time of my hosting change and it went pretty easy.  I just made my directories on the new site uploaded all my files. Changed permissions and path information in the app & admin scripts and was done

Any questions I had were answered very quickly by Terry at Hosttec.  I now have over 5400 products and the sites working great.

Re: Installation Problem

If you haven't stared setting up your cart and plan to move do it now, that is the easiest. If you have already started setting up your cart, then you can move, install your cart and move the files over from one server to another server. Either way is actually pretty easy. For the clients I host I set the cart up for them, and even help them move there files over if they need.
