New PayPal Platform Update

NOTE: This post was created on 2022-11-30 on the Kryptronic eCommerce Community facebook page, which has been replaced with this forum.  All facebook support content was migrated into this forum in April 2024.

Evan:

Is there a way to easily drop PayPal "pay later" code in the checkout and product pages while we wait for the K9 platform update? Several customers have asked about alternative pay later methods in the past couple weeks.

Kryptronic:

PayPal Pay Later was released as part of our PayPal Commerce Platform update earlier this year (version 9.2). Update your ticket in the custom shop if you want 9.2 installed now. We have you slated to be updated to 9.3 later this month when it comes out.

IMHO, 9.3 is worth waiting for because the SEO enhancements in it are absolutely massive, and it's only a few weeks off.

Evan:

I can wait for the 9.3 update but it seems that pasting the script in individual product offers results in the message appearing. Is there a place I can paste the script so that it shows up in all product offers rather than pasting in each individual product offer? Also, I noticed the PayPal Button shows up on the retail site but not the wholesale site at checkout even though the PayPal message does show up in the product offer that is visible on both sites. I would like to at least get this working if simple enough while waiting for the 9.3 update and just need to know how and where to paste the scripts if that's possible. Thank you 😀

Kryptronic:

Probably the best thing to do is to modify {private}/apps/ecom/ECOM/includes/prodshow.php to include the PayPal button code you want to use on your offer pages. Be careful, as it's PHP. You'll want to be sure you remove the button code from the offers you've added it to as well.

We'll see the modded file on the site when we do your update, and we'll make sure the button code you've added is backed out. Just leave it out of the product offers, or you will have cleanup to do post-update.
