Creating a new product issue

Hi,

When I create a new product offer it will not show in my 'Direct Category Parent' unless i also add it to 'Related Categories' using the parent ID.

This is what I am doing to create a new product and product offer.

Inventory Items.
1, Identifier -add
2, Display Name - add
3, Item Number - add
4,Small Prod Image - add
Accounts - Skip
Delivery Config - select
Delivery Custom - select
Delivery Item Based - skip
Delivery Real Time - skip
Dimensions - add weight
Inventory Config - skip
Inventory Local - add min and max quantity
Options - add options

Save.

Then in Product Offers
1, Identifier - copy from Inventory Items
2, Display Name - copy from Inventory Items
3, Product Number - copy from Inventory Items (Item Number)

Configure All Types
1, Inv Item ID - same as Identifier
2, Inv Offers - skip
3, Service - skip
4, Special Offers - skip
5, Category - Choose Direct Category Parent
6, Content - skip

Images - add small 'Again' and large
Multi-Site - skip
Prod Filter - skip
Tabs - fill in info

Save.

But When I refresh the Category it does not show the product offer, so I go back in and add the Direct Category Parent to Related Categories and the product now shows.

Am I doing something wrong?

Also I am duplicating a lot of work here, is there a simpler way of doing this?

Cheers,
Bruce.

I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me, than a full frontal labotomy.

Re: Creating a new product issue

You'll need to add the category parent as the Direct Category Parent as well as a Related Category.

Assigning a Direct Category Parent does two things: (1) When the offer is accessed via navigation outside of the category tree, the direct category parent is used to formulate the locaiton/breadcrumbs for the page. (2) When using category feature grids, the direct category parent is used to control which category's grid an offer appears in.

Assigning a Related Category to an offer gets that offer displaying in that category in the online store when using standard product list views (not category grids).

Hi Nick,

OK will do that.

Apart from that, is everything else correct?

Cheers,
Bruce.

Re: Creating a new product issue

Everything else looks good.  Something you can do to see what is required is to open up a new offer to add and click submit without putting any values in any fields.  All the fields and sections you will need to highlight to add the offer will be highlighted.  Same goes for inventory items.  It's a little trick I use to get the minimum number of fields in front of me quickly to complete when adding an offer, etc.

Re: Creating a new product issue

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the tip, that will help.
Maybe you could look at auto populating some of the offer fields after 'Identifier' has been entered, if it matches an 'Inventory Item' maybe?

Cheers,
Bruce.

Yes Nick! Very much like Amazon offers attempt to match up with an inventory product identifier.  That would be very helpful smile

Re: Creating a new product issue

This was implemented in 9.1.0 for Amazon, eBay and Walmart.  9.1.0 will be released soon.

Open a support ticket, please.  The Walmart channel module has been available to any clients that request it since last summer.
