Transfer to new VPS Server using cPanel transfer tool

I have a V8 system in my top level and a V( store in a sub directory just about ready to go live

Can I use cPanel transfer tool to move these over to a new VPS server? I think the V9 store is a DEV license but I think the V8 store is a normal license

Thanks

Re: Transfer to new VPS Server using cPanel transfer tool

I don't see why that would be a problem.  The software is simply PHP and other web-format files and media on a filesystem and a database.  The transfer utility should keep the database access info intact and the filesystem paths the same.  The only thing I'd be on the lookout for is the PHP version on the server - you're running V8, so you're capped at PHP5.6.

Re: Transfer to new VPS Server using cPanel transfer tool

OOF tks for reminding me - the new server is 7.2 (cant get it back to 6) so will have to archive the ver 8 store, redirect dns to the new server and reinstall the V9 store - not a big issue and all part of the learning curve - thanks

Re: Transfer to new VPS Server using cPanel transfer tool

OK - transferred the original v8 and v9 sites over to new server - transfer worked ok - new server php 7.2

As Nick pointed above old site will not work as too high version of php on new server so went through install

Running the installer on the v9 site i got to stage 6 ok and set to reinstall/update and overwrite pearl modules and got the following error - only change I made was at stage 1 when I set the public home directory to /home/******/public_html to get the v9 store operational  away from the test sub directory

Fatal error: Cannot use result of built-in function in write context in /home/*****/core-private-v9/pear/Archive/Tar.php on line 662

permissions all ok at 777

Any ideas please?

Thanks

Re: Transfer to new VPS Server using cPanel transfer tool

Update PEAR during the install and see if the error goes away.  Force the update by choosing to overwrite all files.
