Limit Depth of Navbar Links

Is there a setting in K9 to limit the number of levels of flyouts for the navbar? An SEO tool has said that having about 450 links per page is not good. They are mostly from the navbar category links.

Re: Limit Depth of Navbar Links

No.  There is no setting for that, but probably should be, so we'll add one.  In the meantime, edit {private}/apps/ecom/ECOM/includes/skinwidget_categories.php and remove the second and/or third levels by commenting them out.  We just did something similar for another client and the results were amazing when it came to page load time reduction.

Re: Limit Depth of Navbar Links

OK thanks. Same solution as CCP8 then so I know where to go. I look forward to management interface solution.

Is there a meaningful date on 9.03(?) update and what are the main points it addresses?

Re: Limit Depth of Navbar Links

The change will be very similar in that file to what's done in V8 to accomplish the same thing.  I expect 9.0.3 to be available later this month.  There are currently 63 changes in, probably another 15 to put in.  Nothing super major, mostly enhancements to functionality.

Why not release what you have and then release another in the next 30 days?  There are a few features that we've been waiting for quite some time.

Re: Limit Depth of Navbar Links

Ensuring all changes necessary to support the Walmart channel extension module needs to be done prior to the release of 9.0.3.  That's one of the bigger ticket items in the update, and we need to finish Walmart testing/development to ensure all items necessary are in it.  We're expecting to finish that extension module within the next couple of weeks, so that puts the update right behind that.

Re: Limit Depth of Navbar Links

I have no idea what the above comment means.  I don't speak Clintonese.

I think what you're explaining to me is there is not going to be a release of 9.0.2.X, that would include some much anticipated BOM updates?

If I understand correctly, the plan was to release 9.0.3 then finish up Walmart.  Instead, now you need to finish 9.0.3 so it supports the not-yet-released Walmart, but, you need to finish up Walmart because it needs the 9.0.3 update, before you can release 9.0.3 after you release Walmart.

Do not let perfect be the enemy of good.  I'll take a little something over a lot of nothing.

As good as the eBay mod is, as GREAT as the Amazon mod is, as grateful as I am for multi-site, and God Bless You for the new BOM; However, there are some much needed improvements that could ease some of our growing pains in the BOM.

Re: Limit Depth of Navbar Links

What I am saying is that 9.0.3 release is pending, it contains a few updates in it necessary for the Walmart module, which will be released in conjunction with 9.0.3.  There will be around 80 total changes in the software, including some of the Batch Shipping Manager (BSM) changes you have I have discussed offline over the past few months.
