Advice on changing suphp to fastcgi

Hi

We have had an ongoing problem of the public_html directory being randomly set to 750 permission level. This seems to impact on the cart working correctly.

Our webhost technical support people have, after a few denials, finally agreed that it is being reset when a server update occurs.

Please can you confirm if you think changing from suphp to fastcgi have any detrimental impact on K9?

Either will work fine.  I'm not sure how, though, that a permissions change on the public_html directory would affect operation of K9, though.  K9 doesn't write anything to the root web directory ever, with the exception of during initial installation when directories are created.  What type of issue are you having when perms on public_html revert to 750?

Re: Advice on changing suphp to fastcgi

We get cPanel errors like

[Wed May 23 07:37:05.871058 2018] [core:crit] [pid 9881] (13)Permission denied: [client 158.185.81.114:55462] AH00529: /home/qel/public_html/.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable and that '/home/qel/public_html/' is executable

and hardly any orders...

Re: Advice on changing suphp to fastcgi

That wouldn't have been K9 checking an .htaccess file, never does that.  Error message references 'pcfg_openfile', which I'm not familiar with.
