Customer scared away from setting up new account

A customer contacted me saying that she got warnings that my webstore was incorrectly configured and that she should leave the site:  "After struggling all week to make time to register an account with your company, I decided it was just not worth the risk to create an account on your website. I tried to create one a few minutes ago, and both Firefox and Microsoft Edge said that your website is incorrectly configured and there is no way I could log in securely AND that I should leave your website immediately."

Has anyone else had this error and Is there something I can to do to resolve this?

Will this be an issue in V9?

Thanks!

Pam

Re: Customer scared away from setting up new account

(1) Kryptronic has been urging all clients to switch to using full SSL URLs all the time since late last year.  I assume you have not done this and are running both http and https URLs on your site, or even worse, using http only.  There are threads in the V8 forum on what is necessary to take V7 and V8 into full SSL mode.  It's not hard, but for your case, I recommend contacting us through the Custom Shop and he can queue a job to handle everything you need.

(2) The current K9 release that's out in the wild right now (versions 9.0.0 and 9.0.1) support using full SSL URLs using a switch in the management interface.  Turn it on and you're good to go.  The pending version 9.0.2 update takes this way further by introducing just a single URL into the system (no more http and https URLs, you have http only or https only) and going uber crazy with speed and session enhancements as a result of the simplification.  9.0.2 is pending release, and will be the first publicly available production version of K9 available.

I recommend you get this fixed ASAP on your V8 site by contacting the Custom Shop.  I also recommend you ask him about upgrading to K9.  Or submit this form:

https://kryptronic.com/Form/Custom-Shop … t-Upgrades

We've seen clients cut ad costs, have to turn off their phones because they're selling too much, and go from down 40% to up 10% over the course of a month.  We've seen 35-45% increases in organic traffic and 30-35% increases in conversions on top of that with K9.  This thing is working on another level, almost like magic.  We make no guarantees, every site is different, but the results are undeniable.  K9 is a perfect storm of what store owners, customers and Google want out of an ecommerce site and it's performing so well that it would really be a shame for everyone not to upgrade to it.

Re: Customer scared away from setting up new account

I found these instructions in a post from 2014 - where would these settings be?  I don't have these options in the raw database admin.

"Settings SSL as the hreftype on the 'core.contact' and 'core.contact_proc' namespaces is all that needs to be done.  Did you do both?"

Thanks!  Way beyond my comprehension though - I've put in for a ticket.
