Footer Telephone Number Dead Link
The phone number displayed in the footer is a hyperlink in the format <a href="tel://01234 567890">01234 567890</a>. This is a dead link but I thought it originally pointed to the contact pag before we reran the installer. Please can you explain why it is set up like this.

This is set up like this so that you can click the link on a mobile phone and call the number. Additionally, Google picks this stuff up and does all kinds of cool stuff with it. In V8 that did point to the contact page. In V9 it's a tel:// link.

OK understood but the link is dead when viewed on a desktop. Any solution to that?

It's not always a dead link. Depends on your computer. If you've got skype or something to that effect installed it will work. I'm not sure a change for this is in order, ie: might not be good to change it - too many benefits otherwise.
