More CCP 5 questions

Will CCP 5 have the following:

1.  A field for a 2nd address line.
2.  Ability to change default shipping method.  (For example, right now I have UPS shipping.  The default goes to Next Day Air, but I'd like the default to be Ground.)
3.  A field on the order form for special instructions/comments (or ability to add such a field).  I think I saw before that we would be able to add fields to the order form--if so, that would cover this one.

Also, any way to accomplish these in CCP4?

Thanks.

Maybe - does anyone else need that?

2. Ability to change default shipping method. (For example, right now I have UPS shipping. The default goes to Next Day Air, but I'd like the default to be Ground.)

You can do this now by re-ordering the order of the lines in the file: ./data/shipping/ups_services.db

Definitely.

Could this also be done by changing the order in "Edit Shipping Settings" in the administration program?

Re: More CCP 5 questions

A second (optional) address line is good for those folks who are buying/shipping to businesses who are located in multi-tenant buildings at the same street address...

I'd say if it was not a huge time investment and would not delay ccp5 much, it would be nice to have...

personally things I'd LOVE to see added to ccp5 before a second address line would be: (keeping in mind i speak from the opinion of a small business without access to a lot of capital)

-a delimeted database file which gets written to as orders are approved so sales data can be quickly and easily analyzed to find out such things as which products have sold, how many, costs, etc.  Ideally seeing this within CCP5 admin would be nice but with say a tab or comma delimeted data file, programs such as excel or filemaker could be used to analyze such

-a shipping label 'creator' which could format labels for quick and easy printing (either thru another delimeted file or thru a formatted printable html page)

-an easy to update order status page.. to be able to *quickly* and easily mark an order as being shipped in the tracking section of CCP..   i use the word 'easy' because although this can be done now, it requires typing out order numbers and typing in messages...  if you've seen how Cardservices Linkpoint works in terms of marking orders 'shipped'.. something like that would be IDEAL!  If you haven't seen that, lemme know and i'll explain it in detail

-an html formatted page which would allow an admin to format an html page for print which could serve as a printed, hard copy invoice for records or to include in the shipped package..  this could work closely (menu wise) with the shipping function above, so in very few clicks, a fulfillment house or the merchants inhouse shippers could go to a page, mark an item as shipped, print a label, and print a hardcopy invoice / sales receipt all in one!  i dream of that! (my e-merchant geekness is now evident!)

-an easy to update 'inventory control' module to view inventory and add / remove as needed in an easy to update Inventory Admin type of page

-multiple payment options

-USPS shipping tables integration  - depending on your products, USPS is the way to go for small business shipping.. free shipping material, free labels, free tracking (electronic), etc).. good choice in my opinion

-a renaming of some of the terms CCP uses regarding order completion..  the nature of some small business online sales may mean that although the payment part of an order has been 'approved' the order is not yet 'complete'...  there is an aspect of the product actually being shipped to making the orders 'complete'...  the way we've modified CCP4 is to call one part "payment status", and have that say incomplete or completed.. and another part called "shipping status".. after payment approval CCP filles in the field as saying - shipment is pending.. upon 'order shipped' (see part above about status update), this field gets changed to "shipped on" todays date..

I know i've submitted some of this before but I really feel that these additions would make CCP more streamlined and a hands down winner as the best cart on the market! I look forward to CCP5 and would pay for the price twofold if some of these were added!

Thanks again!

Thanks for the requests.  We'll be looking at them for inclusion.

I answered my own question.  I was able to change the order of the shipping methods in the admin. interface, and this worked.  The first method listed becomes the default.
