Re: site map issue

Did you look at the sitemap.xml file in {public}/utilities?  Is it complete?

Re: site map issue

Yeh, this was the contents.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<urlset xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9">
</urlset>

At the minuet i have used an online sitemap generator and copied the contents in to utilities/sitemap.xml

Its happened a few times, i noticed search results dropping so ive checked webmaster tools and this seems to be the problem.

Re: site map issue

Is this an intermittent issue, or is the sitemap basically blank every time it's generated?

Re: site map issue

Its seems to be intermittent. I have contaced fasthost about it before but they cant see a problem.

Ive only checked when i notice my search results dropping on google so ive checked webmaster tools and there is an error with the sitemap. Its empty when checking utilities/sitemap.xml and via ftp. Strange.

Re: site map issue

If it's intermittent, the issue is with the host.  Possibly a DB issue.  Either the software will generate everything in the map, or no map at all, unless there is a DB/hosting issue.

Re: site map issue

Check your settings to make sure you have at least HTML pages, if not items and categories being written to the sitemap.

Re: site map issue

Thank you for your response,

Show HTML Pages in SiteMap is Selected  true to display HTML pages in the Sitemap ever since it means that there is some thing wrong. The issue happened every now and then I used to sort it out by uploading a Sitemap backup but the problem is it not updated.Could look into that ?

Thanks

Re: site map issue

That's a problem with the SEO URL 'BARRACUDA￿-GREEN-SATA-3GB/S-1TB-HD' which has way too may special characters in it.

Re: site map issue

I don't seem to be getting a sitemap, everything is ticked in the sitemap options but the sitemap is blank apart from the first couple of lines, I've replaced it with a web based generated xml file  but would like the auto version to work.
Any ideas?

Re: site map issue

Try using the Raw SQL statement in  to run a Cron job which should update the Sitemap.

Re: site map issue

Thanks, that's updated it, will this be automatically done very 24hrs now? also interesting that the web generated sitemap had 350 pages reported in google webmaster but the CCP one only has 155? I guess the web based one submitted things that weren't needed?
Apologies for pinching the OP's thread.

Re: site map issue

Yes, it will be generated every 24 hours.

I would guess Google has a bunch of old or duplicate pages indexed.

Re: site map issue

Wait until cron runs next (within 24 hours, or execute the following SQL statement to trigger cron):

UPDATE core_settings SET value=1 WHERE id LIKE '%.cron_%_last'
