Checkout going round in circles

I'm not using Guest Checkout at the moment, so want new customers to create a new account.

Shopping complete - Checkout selected > Checkout Page presented > Select Create New Account from Account Menu > Complete account details > Account has been created message and Account Overview Page presented >Click on Cart Checkout > Shopping Cart page presented > select Checkout > Update Account Profile page presented > select Submit > Update Account Profile page refreshes with a Thank you for update message > never ending cycle between cart and account profile.

In Admin the new user account is created as a users - Basic Account.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Re: Checkout going round in circles

Can you post a URL?  This is obviously not correct.

Re: Checkout going round in circles

Sorry, I don't check or pick up forum PMs on a regular basis at all.  I have enough going on with skype, emails and the support ticket system.  Please submit a ticket here on this issue:

Re: Checkout going round in circles

When guest checkout is enabled in Store -> checkout, the paypal button appears in the shopping cart. But when I disable guest checkout, then the Paypal button disappears. I really don't want people to checkout as guests but I really don't want the Paypal button to disappear either. Is there a fix I can apply? Using 8.0.4. on a Mac Mini with OSX 10.7.5. Thanks very much,
James

Re: Checkout going round in circles

If the user checks out using the PayPal express button, they are checking out as a guest, I.e. not creating an account. Therefore the guest checkout needs to be active.

I suppose you could hide the Checkout as Guest option from the checkoutintro page.

Re: Checkout going round in circles

If you want to use paypal as a payment method for account holders you need to activate the paypal standard payment method(which should already be active anyway).

However doing so will not mean the paypal Express button shows at checkout.

We have come across this issue today. Was there an answer?

Re: Checkout going round in circles

This was down to disabling State/Province as a required field - a pain outside the US - and not setting default "Not Applicable" in one file. The corrective action was done under a support ticket and feedback was :  "You had hidden the StateProv field in all the checkout forms, however did not make a mod to the ECOM_Checkout class to default the value of the StateProv field to Not Applicable prior to checking for required info.  I have made that mod and have verified that you can reach the payment screen now."

If you have done the same then this might be your solution as well.

Re: Checkout going round in circles

Thanks for getting back to ,me.

It turned out a similar issue along the same lines as your was causing it.

Ireland do not use postcodes and when an account was created with no postcode, caused the issue.

Re: Checkout going round in circles

You may have to undo the Ireland fix next year as they plan to introduce post codes.
