option text field

I can get the text box to show in the product area and can enter text but is not being included with the order, or on the forwarded order form - any ideas where my problem is? Verion 8

Check to be sure you have no selection items checked for that option, as it's a textbox option.

Thank you - works just like it should - but would love an option to be added to it in the future, so it could be used as an additional charge for custom feature.  Thanks for the prompt answer.
