I am using 8.0.4
i need to change the admin password to something stronger
from the help files it appears this is the procedure.
1 create new hash with MD5
2 replace old hash with new hash into public and private config.php files
($config['core.password_copy']= newhash and $config['core.password']=newhash
3 insert new hash into core_users table for my admin user in password field
4 login to admin.php with the new password.
5. Thank god it worked :-)
could someone please confirm this is ok?...thanks very
much in advance!!

If you want to change the password for the main admin account used to access the back end, go to Account & Support > Account Menu > Account Overview where you can change or update the main admin account. The password hash in the config files are more for the installer program and system use.

John is there a more direct way to get the password reset? I can't log into the new install since I imported the database from my other storefront (hosted on a old server) that is being taken down.

It does not work for some reason. I got the password issues fix however.

the password reset link does not work in my case. I'm down because I can't log in to edit/update anything. I sent a ticket in for help with this issue.
