The writeconfig() function was unable to save data to the configuratio

Trying to update from version 7 to 8 and get the message "The writeconfig() function was unable to save data to the configuration file." on the first step of the installer. The installer is the one for upgrading the shop.
I changed all permissions from 777 to 755 and back and still get the message.
What to do?

Re: The writeconfig() function was unable to save data to the configuratio

Double-check your permissions.  777 on both the private and public config.php files will work on any server (but Windows servers).  If the permissions on both files are ok, check your disk space to be sure you haven't reached your quota.

Re: The writeconfig() function was unable to save data to the configuratio

It's a linux server.
The directory structure is /home/www/xcs-private-eu for the private folder.
www-folder has 777
xcs-private-eu has 777
config.php in xcs-private-eu has 777

The same applies to the public folder and config.php. All folders above config.php have 777 except /home.
Disk has 500 GB free space.

Re: The writeconfig() function was unable to save data to the configuratio

Just changed the procedure: I installed a new V8 shop beside of the running V7 version. This worked fine.
Thank you for your help.

Read this on ClickCartPro XCS:

https://kryptronic.com/cms-xmodnewsrss_ … ement.html

We did not build the in-place upgrade to support that pirated software.  Glad you got the install working as a standalone.
