Breadcrumbs

Hi

I have noticed that when clicking on a featured product on the splash page, the breadcrumbs do not show the correct path. The category appears to be the most recent category visited rather than the category the product belongs in. You can see this on the oddgirl site as well as my own, so I don't think it's anything I have done.

Has anyone else noticed this and is there a fix?

Thanks

Ian

Re: Breadcrumbs

There is no way to know with certainty what category a product is in when you navigate to it other than through a category listing. Products may be in multiple categories so the best you could hope for would be a guess. The bread crumbs show you the last path you took as they are designed to do.

Re: Breadcrumbs

Surely it would make more sense for the breadcrumbs to show either a minimal path when the path is unknown, such as home > product, or far better, what the category is of the product what is shown. At least then customers could easily see similar products. As it currently stands, I think I will have to put a link to the category in every product detailed description.

Just my view, not sure what anyone else thinks

Thanks

Ian

Re: Breadcrumbs

Good point.   We take the view that breadcrumbs are there to show a path or trail of how you reached a product, and clicking from the featured products really doesn't have a path or trail.

Re: Breadcrumbs

Clicking featured product should show the path to the page where that click was made.
Customer may be reading a page, click the featured product, then want to get back to the page where they clicked the featured product.
