Hi,
I have 7.1.3 installed and every PayPal order comes back with a telephone number 0000000000, even though the customer has a number on their PP account. I have not messed with this in any way - it just does it.
As this populates the field, the customer does not get warned so then we have to send further emails - not great.
Anybody else seeing this please? Can anybody suggest the here the telephone number verification code is and I will add a check and warning for this if this is the only solution - thanks.
Any help much appreciated!

In PayPal, go to Profile>Website Payment Preferences (in the lower right column)
Scroll down to Contact Telephone Number.
Hi, thanks, have changed that to On.
Nothing to do with CCP - that's good!
Thanks again,

Hi,
Sorry, but those phone numbers are still coming through and are zero-ised.
Can anybody tell me where the phone number field is validated and then I will add a check for both NULL fields and 0000000000 phone numbers to alert customers and have them change it.
Thanks,
Darren

Is there a better text editor add on somewhere? And why does this even exist as an issue?? Such a basic thing should work right.

I have the same problem. After CCP 7.1 was installed all of the PayPal express orders come out with 000000000 in the telephone number field (extremely frustrating) What is worse, the customer after they have logged into Paypal and chosen the payment source, then they get directed back to the website and they see that the phone number field says 00000000 and so they hit the link to correct the billing address and then hit enter, now the cart thinks that since they changed the billing address section (or even the ship to address) the cart now says "pay with your credit card" so they get all confused why they can't complete their paypal checkout (not good)

We can modify the system through the custom shop to suppress the phone number display on PayPal Express orders. Cost would be approx 57.50. The issue is that PayPal doesn't transmit any billing info back to the site - just shipping info. It's done that way to protect the privacy of the user.

Jeff,
Is this the same issue with Google Checkout? Phone numbers don't return to us from Google either and it messes with out order management system that thinks everyone with a 000-000-0000 is the same customer.

Is there a solution for Google Checkout not returning phone numbers to CCP7 yet? They are all 000-000-0000 even though the phone number is in Google Checkout when the order is reviewed there.

My understanding is that Paypal will not transmit the phone number, so the only solution is to modify CCP to NOT populate the field with zeros, so that the required field will remain blank and the customer will be forced to fix it and enter something. Or if it's Paypal sending the zeros then CCP needs to strip them out.
Hopefully this is being addressed in the forthcoming v8.

FYI, this has just been added to the list for V8. If we receive all zeros, it will be suppressed.

I just learned that lgt's fix at the top, although it won't put the customer's phone number in the CCP order email, does put the customer's phone number in Paypal's confirmation email. So now at least we have the customer's phone number when we need it.

What a mess! Since I use the customer phone number for their acct # in quick books... This is creating a mess in my order importing.
Simple solution for me... Turn off Paypal express payments... Just use the paypal payment system thru the cart so you can capture the info on your end instead of sending it to paypal.
This is lame....
Why would paypal drop this vital info? What if I needed to contact a customer about an order and they gave a bad email address.....
