VAT Issues in EuropaCart: Summary Response

Hello all.  A couple of users have reported issues with VAT percentage displays on the order summary pages produced by EuropaCart.  If you are experiencing these issues, you need to update to version 7.1.3 by running the installer and following the instructions here:

https://central.kryptronic.com/public/n … 2011A.html

This update has changes to show the taxed rate for the item on the order summary VAT display (not the actual tax rate as was shown in versions 7.1.2 and prior).   Please note that your ECOM module's version number will be updated to 7.1.3 following this update, not the XMOD_EuropaCart module - it's version will be 7.1.1 following the update.

If there are any issues with VAT calculations after running the update, please post them in this thread.  We are working on another update for the software and would like to be sure we're issue free.  Thank you.

Thanks Nick for responding to our posts and addressing the issues raised.

I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me, than a full frontal labotomy.

Hi.  That would be the Store Component base module.

Re: VAT Issues in EuropaCart: Summary Response

Hi Bruce, there have been several threads on this subject over an extended period of time before Kryptronic finally started this thread as the summary response/solution page a couple of weeks ago. No further updates have been forthcoming.

Good point - I'm beginning to wonder why bug fixes and other problematical issues seem to take so long to put right

Re: VAT Issues in EuropaCart: Summary Response

Sorry to bump a thread, but wanted to make sure this issue is still prominent in the forum as it is so important.

Any news on a date for this fix?

Re: VAT Issues in EuropaCart: Summary Response

It has been nearly six weeks since this thread began and a fair bit longer since the issue was first reported.

Has the promised solution been made available yet?

As we approach the end of September, is there an update or timescale for us regarding this issue Nick?

Re: VAT Issues in EuropaCart: Summary Response

We have an update scheduled to be released on or before Wed, Oct 19, 2011, which will contain a fix for this issue.  This is the last scheduled update for the version 7 codebase, and will bring it to version 7.1.4 (note we are currently working on version 8).

Hi Nick

Your release date came and went. Can you please provide us with an update. This is really embarassing for us.

Hi Tommy,

We're getting very close...just could use a few more hands...or propellers as the case may be.  Should be available in a few days.  Sorry for the delay.

Re: VAT Issues in EuropaCart: Summary Response

Could someone please clarify, we have not noticed any issues. Is this only when you have a mixture of products with and without VAT then? Our store component is 7.1.3 so this seems to be the latest.

There was mention of Google Base Xmod changes?

Hi Amdowney,

Yes, only if you have a mix of VAT and NON VAT products in the cart.... unless you know better?

speak now as this is the last fix for v7....

Cheers,
Bruce.

Re: VAT Issues in EuropaCart: Summary Response

"Yes, only if you have a mix of VAT and NON VAT products in the cart"

from what I can remember, its not just that scenario that's the problem.

The percentage calculation issue also is affected because the vat on delivery is used to calculate the total vat as Delivery is an order line!

Re: VAT Issues in EuropaCart: Summary Response

I posted a problem with an order being pushed to the payment gateway even though the balance was zero after applying a discount code.

Order Total Zero being sent to Payment Gateway

My feeling is that this too is something to do with the VAT calculations.

Re: VAT Issues in EuropaCart: Summary Response

Hi Tommy,

This has certainly stretched longer than anticipated...I hope to have news soon.  We are in the midst of finishing some pretty large custom jobs that have robbed our resources pretty significantly.  Hope that most of this launches over the weekend and then these changes, which have already actually been coded, can simply be dropped into an update.  Again, I apologize for the delay.

Thanks

Jeff

Re: VAT Issues in EuropaCart: Summary Response

Hi Jeff,

Will the pending update also address the VAT issue with the display of historic orders?  I posted on here some time ago that historic orders (i.e. orders that are from an earlier VAT Rate increase) will display VAT amounts using the latest VAT rate setting but the information will be incorrect to the user because the VAT amount should be the amount of vat recorded when that order was completed (in the case of the UK market this is very important because VAT Rates have been changed by HMRC 3 times in the last few years).

I need some investigation into this bug and concluded that the orders table had a record of the vat at the point of sale but the orderitems table did not, which is what is causing the problem with incorrect vat values being displayed on order line items.
