v6 emails the customer the download link info. Was a mod ever created that eliminated this and instead, display to the buyer immediately after purchase, the download link and user/pass? Or, has v7 addressed this?
Reason I ask is because there are some email providers, especially AOL, we have a VERY difficult time with getting email to go through. For some time we've been dealing with customers who say they do not get the email. For some, we are able to email them the PDF directly. More recently some will not cooperate to allow us send the PDF as an attachment. So they file a complaint to their credit card company and we are having to deal with charge backs and refunds. There's also a percentage of customers who do not read their email in time and we have to re-issue another download link for them. I'm looking for a solution to this problem.
Thanks.

First off, what about a link to the files instead of attachments?
Second, there is a box in the product information that can be set to display information to customers in their order confirmation email. I'm not sure how to do it, but I am sure that the link for each order (or links) could be inserted into that formfield to generate links in the actual order confirmation email.
Also... Are the .pdfs unique to each customer? Is there only ever one .pdf file per order, or can there be several? Are the .pdfs listed as products (if so they will have an id that will be used in the generation of the file links and which, as such, can also be used in the generation of file download links)?

There is only one file (per downloaded) item in the private dir from which ccp creates a unique file in the public download section when a customer purchase a downloadable item, so each customer has to connect to a specific file to get there download, thus controlling who can download a file and also how the time limit is controlled. CCP basically just emails a link to the customer from which they can get there file.

The link to the pdf files are generated and issued via email. That's the default setup for v6.

That box you speak of is the 'Confirmation Email Text'.

The product lines we sell are paper documents and the customer has the choice to purchase a download version instead. We started out listing the product and set options for customer to choose paper or PDF. That proved to be too difficult a decision to make for many. So we now list all product individually. In effect, doubling the size of our ccp0_prod.
What John says is accurate.
After the sale is completed (confirmed as paid) the final page they customer sees in the store is the summary of purchase with the ability to print their invoice. At this point CCP emails the download links to he customer so it should be able to have the relevant info to display the download links on the web page. Display in a visually distinct box on the page so that the customer can't miss what they are supposed to do (proceed to download the items if included in their purchase). For those customers who do not pay automatically (phone and mail in), the default set up of going into the Post Order Status is still available to admin to send the customer the download link.

So I'm guessing no mod was ever thought of?

Yes, this will avoid the customer having to wait for the email delivery.
