My inheritance

OMG, I just printed out the all.css file and it's 16 pages long.

I have most of my site tuned up, but the parent/child relationships that are inherited seem a bit confusing.

The firebug utility was a BIG help in getting this far, but dealing with the inherited settings issue I could use some
expert insight. I've read several posts and haven't quite got it figured out yet.

Can anyone tell me specifically how this parent/child/element/class thing all works?
Work with me....I'm still learing. smile

Re: My inheritance

You can see why I told you that documenting the CSS file would be a big job!!!!

I suggest you buy a book on CSS - for example 'CSS - the definitive guide' by Meyer. It's not something you can explain in a few posts on a forum!

Re: My inheritance

Thank you for that input. What is really causing me the single most trouble is the very bottom of the pages where there are more items than will fit on one page and the links/text at the bottom. The text links are not the color and the size needed to see them very well. I realize these settings are inherited but not sure where in th eall.css file those attributes are set.  It's my understanding that I should be able to override the inherited settings by locating the correct lines of code and replacing the inherit command with a specific size, weight and color. Can you tell me what lines control that?

Re: My inheritance

Use Google Chrome, right click on the text and select "inspect element" and it will show you the CSS including the inheritance. There is also the Firefox Developer Toolbar that has CSS functions.
