Hi
On my main categories whatever text you put on the front boxes, when ever you click into it its copied to the top of the page so you can only really put a small amount of text or it throws my box sizes out.
is there a way of having a small desc on the front and then a different more in depth desc when you click into it?

this page has 1 sentence across the top which stems from the main category, I would like to have more text in this section????
have trawlled through the forums but havnt found the answer???

I'm not quite clear on what you are looking for. That link goes to what appears to be a top level category (aka a main category). What text are you talking about on that page?

the sub categories I have for each category has writing in and this is duplicated when you click into it. However, when you click into it I would like to add more there. when I do this is kicks the size out of proportion at the sub category boxes??
also, is there a way to change the size of the category boxes as I would like them wider?
thanks in advance

It is the same information, there are not separate entries for what is displayed as a sub-category and what is displayed when viewing the category.

The width depends on the overall width of the site, 995 pixels in your case, less the width of the right and left columns. The area for your sub-categories is quite a bit larger than what you are seeing but the width of the images is constraining it and making things look "scrunched up".
You also have a very large number of which you should try and address (that was done on your index page, the sub-category page you posted has even more errors).

oh mg what are validation errors!!!????
113 !!!
the width of the images are 156,
my website people said to resize all pics before upload so the images are 100,200 and 500+
and my cats and sub cats are 156?
I clicked on the validation list but it doesnt make sense to me?? what am I doing to bring up these errors?

Image sizes may be altered in admin under Store > Component > Settings > Image Specifications
Quite a few of the validation errors appear to be "self inflicted" meaning they were likely introduced my manual modifications to skin.php and/or one or more of the display includes. A good number of them are pretty obvious, META instead of meta for example, and there are a number cause by incorrect use of tags for a XHTML compliant page (<BR> instead of <br />).

thanks dave! although im gonna push the 'self-inflicted' to the web people grr! I'll see if I can go through it and clean it up!!

The validator from w3c may show something as bad or wrong but the problem may be earlier in the code, it is not that the validator doesn't like the quotation marks but you may have forgot to close a quotation set earlier which is causing the script to close it at the point it is showing as bad, making the rest of the code invalid, fixing the code in one section may cause a lot of other problems to go away, or may cause other to show up as well. Start by looking in the code before the first error occurs to see if any code problems show up.

oh ps what about the & signs and the n in this in the middle 'cms&ns:-
tgiftboxes.com/shop/index.php?app=cms&ns=display&ref=aboutus" title="About Us"…
An entity reference was found in the document, but there is no reference by that name defined. Often this is caused by misspelling the reference name, unencoded ampersands, or by leaving off the trailing semicolon (. The most common cause of this error is unencoded ampersands in URLs as described by the WDG in "Ampersands in URLs".
Entity references start with an ampersand (&) and end with a semicolon (. If you want to use a literal ampersand in your document you must encode it as "&" (even inside URLs!). Be careful to end entity references with a semicolon or your entity reference may get interpreted in connection with the following text. Also keep in mind that named entity references are case-sensitive; &Aelig; and æ are different characters.
If this error appears in some markup generated by PHP's session handling code, this article has explanations and solutions to your problem.
Note that in most documents, errors related to entity references will trigger up to 5 separate messages from the Validator. Usually these will all disappear when the original problem is fixed.
I dont actually know where this is?

The validator will never like a & entered into any part of the site, these must be escaped (& amp; no space between) in text and hard coded url, this also go for any other html special characters (<> ...etc) used in open text with in a page, it will trap it as a valid operator in an invalided placement.
