A week ago Simon asked about importing a comma-delimited database of products. I didn;t see a reply. I have about 50 products and I have a database from another shopping cart which I can easily manipulate -- how can I import it and use that as my product list? I can add a column for image urls.

I got a method figured out to do this.
I see that the existing shoppingcart content is in file data/site/catalog.db (partial content of that file is listed below):
1|2::_|Multimedia Headphones|1001|39.99|5.00|10.00|15.00|0.00|N|N|0|N|0|||prod_1.gif|sm_prod_1.gif|Y||Want a real multimedia experience? Try these headphones on for size and be blown away! Awesome stereo sound at a great price.
2|5::_|Multicolor Flatbed Scanner|1002|210.99|5.00|7.50|10.00|0.00|N|N|0|N|0|||prod_2.gif|sm_prod_2.gif|Y||This scanner is attractive and runs very fast. Scan up to two pages per minute at 600 DPI! A must have for the seriouse photophile.
I enterred one of my products and got this as content for that file:
20|_::_|3D Angel Fish v 3.2|angelf|10.00|0.00|0.00|0.00|0.00|Y|N|0|N|0|||no_image.gif|no_image.gif|N|You can download your screensaver from this link: http://IP_address/SDSSAVERS/xxxxx/screensaver.exe|3D Angel Fish version 3.2 Screen Saver
So all I need to do is make my data file look like that format and upload it over the old data/site/catalog.db file.
