My breadcrumbs are all wonky. Help!

I don't have cut and dried categories.  There is a lot of cross-pollination.  For instance, I sell greeting cards.  I have one set of categories by occasion, another set by product type, and another set by recipient.  Each product fits into at least one in each of the three top categories.

I suspect this is the reason, when my breadcrumbs form, they're all screwy.  I'd like it to show up as a default by occasion, but the system is trying to include all variations.

Take a look and click around:  http://store.shopflytrap.com.  If you click on random links on the left, you'll see what I mean.

Anyone have any ideas for how to fix this?  Changing the format of the categories isn't really the best option for me, probably.

Re: My breadcrumbs are all wonky. Help!

The breadcrumbs reflect the path the user has taken to get to where she is.  The site I'm building is the same.  I, too, would prefer a breadcrumb menu of navigation links related to the category.  It would require rewriting the breadcrumbs display include  to select all subcategories of a category and print them in the breadcrumb format.  That code is in the  Category Detail Display include.

One thing I noticed about your breadcrumbs which probably makes them seem wonky is that they don't look like breadcrumbs because of the lack of the path indicator > or >>.  The format your use looks more like a menu than breadcrumbs and that makes it appear nonsensical..

Re: My breadcrumbs are all wonky. Help!

I am having this same problem with the breadcrumb navigation.  It seems other people are as well
https://forum.kryptronic.com/viewtopic.php?id=24893

I understand that the links are just following the path you take, but if you use the browser back button or click a sidebar category link after browsing, all hell breaks out with the links.  Is their a way to reset the breadcrumb when someone selects a main category?  As the other posters have stated it makes no sense when people are clicking in and out of categories to have some of the links that are displayed.  You end up having unrelated and opposite categories listed in the breadcrumb...  it just ends up looking silly, broken, and unprofessional

example:

Store Home > Widgets > Red Widget > Blue Widget > Widget-1

With a little further testing I think this is only happening for the subcategories.  If the category appears on Store Home then the navigation does reset and works correctly.
