Order Status

Is there a way to add more options to the online order status field?  I would like my customers to be able to verify if an order has shipped or is backordered by checking the order tracking.

Just enter the order status in the "Text Order Status" field when editing the order in Tracking & Statistics | Edit Online Order.  That's what the field is there for.
