Greetings.
When I attempt to export my ecom_prod as a csv, change it then save it as an csv file from Excel 2007 (PC) CPP V 7.1 will not allow me to import that file.
------------------
The CSV file you uploaded could not be read. It does not appear to be a properly formatted CSV file that can be used by this import function. Review the CSV File Information section for information on how this file should be formatted and make sure all of the table columns were represented on the first line of the file.
----------------
After several tries, I then exported the csv from CPP and then attempted to import that untouched file (after downloading).
Same error message.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Did you export all database columns? You can export the columns you want but you can only import a complete changed file that has all the column names present. It is best to export all columns, make your changes and then import the information back to ccp, any column left blank in a feed will remove that information from ccp's database.

Hello. Thanks for your quick response. I am exporting all columns and then attempting to import all columns.
So - I export "All" then if I try to import the same file I get the error message. I also have tried a manual download via FTP using ascii and that also failed.
When I open the file in notepad, all of the info seems to be present.

Yes - all column names are checked for export.

I am exporting in id-ASC order as well.
I just tried a test with Open Office with the same results: The CSV file you uploaded could not be read. It does not appear to be a properly formatted CSV file that can be used by this import function. Review the CSV File Information section for information on how this file should be formatted and make sure all of the table columns were represented on the first line of the file.
But, wouldn't one think that I should be able to export the data and then immediately reimport it without any changes or file conversion? I can't do that. Get the error message above.
Thanks.

The only real things that would stop ccp from importing a file are, no complete column list, or the file was saved in a format that does not meet the requirements for the file, this includes several other forms of csv file formats. If you exported the file and tried to import it right back in and it didn't work one could only say that all the columns where not exported. I would remove any downloaded csv database file from ccp from the computer and try it again, as I have exported files my self, several times and found that I was trying to import the wrong file back into the site because of an added number to the export because the file name was already present on the computer.

Thanks John - but I've been there. Fully deleted the downloaded file, reexported and then cannot reimport same file - with no "conversion" in the process loop. I've been very careful to make sure I'm not doing something fumble fingery.
While I can download the exported file, I'll go see if there's something on that side changing the exported file.

No - it's about 100.

When I open the csv in an editor - I see the commas and quotes and the headers - and I checked each header to make sure it was there. I found nothing irregular on the server. That said, I am having to "right click" and "save target as" in the file download area. I cannot browse that download folder via the web.

I'm running ccp 7.1.1 component base and 7.1.0 application, windows 7. 16 gig ram, 2 T-Bytes of HD - lots of power.

I've now tested with several of the files and get the same result every time. Export the file - download it - cannot import it.
Has anyone out there successfully imported and exported from 7.1 - raw database admin?

OK - glad it's working. Thanks for your reply. I'm running a windows server and I did not password protect the public download directory. Do you think that could be an issue? I cannot click on "download" and retrive the file. Get a 404 error - but the path is right. I can right click and "save target" but that may be what is corrupting the file.
Or, I'm waaay off base.
Thanks,
DA

Check your folder/file permissions. I had this issue and solved it by CMOD'ing the download folder and download.php to 755.
BTW - I looked for a place in the setup to protect the downloads directory with a password and did not find anything - is it actually there?

You really have to use htaccess and a htpasswd file for the directory to protect it, but at System Dashboard > System > Component > Settings > Download Directory Settings is where you put the information so that it gets sent to the ones who need it when something is placed in that directory.
