editing an invoice

We have occasions where we need to edit price, add discount, add or delete a line item or change quantities on a customers order before processing and shipping.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks

Re: editing an invoice

To further - we also manually enter orders that come in from Amazon.com. The Amazon.com prices are different and the shipping rates charged by Amazon are also different. Currently we manually create and enter these orders (not with CCP) and it's easy to apply the different item prices and shipping charges but I do not see that we can do this with CCP. Doing line items edits is imperative for us in running a store and we use this feature daily. I'm hoping for an easy solution so we can go live with the new store.

Re: editing an invoice

I suppose you could edit ecom_orders and ecom_orderitems using the raw database function of the System menu or by using a tool like phpMyAdmin.  We also change orders frequently and do it in our accounting program, Quickbooks.  I'm not sure why you would want to import your Amazon orders into your shopping cart?

However, line-item edit would make a nice mod and I would definitely be interested. :-)

Hmm - not doable as there are a few of us needing to do invoice adjustments regularly and only one person is understanding of php. On amazon orders once they come through we manually enter them (like a phone order) but here too we cannot set up a price different than what is actually in our inventory.  Many times we sell something that is not in inventory but doesn't seem possible here without line item edits. This is very important feature which is available in other software options we reviewed - we assumed this would be a given feature in CCP.

Now my next question would be can we sell our lic and mods?

thx

Re: editing an invoice

I think anyone could use the System/Raw Database admin function to edit.  You don't need to know php.  Writing a php script to call up an order in a form where it could be edited is not that hard.  I could do it in an afternoon and I'm quite the dilettante coder. sad

Our company doesn't use invoices from any shopping cart, but instead we have an accounting program where we can import our orders into Quickbooks and edit there.   The cart doesn't really perform accounting functions like P/L and COGs.  Those functions are very important when you have a warehouse full of inventory.

If you have inventory, Quickbooks or Peachtree is a much better solution than the shopping cart.  For one, we don't want to do real time inventory on items we can get in the warehouse in a couple of days.  We use the real-time inventory when things are on a slow boat from China and will be out of stock for a while.  We also sell assembled items which, again, the accounting program takes care of and prints a packing list that the pick and pack peeps can use to pick the parts.  There are so many reasons NOT to have your shopping cart create the real invoices and packing lists.

The line edit on orders would be cool to use for the folks who have placed an order and it may be shipping in two boxes at two different times, or one item is on B/O for a couple of days - just to keep them informed.

Why don't you post it when your write it and share? smile

BTW, you can create cloned products for the Amazon order items and use different prices than your website.  You don't have to have those Amazon special price items live and linked to anything as long as you and your staff know the urls to those products.

I think you might be missing the point.  Are you looking to use CCP as an invoicing system?  If so, then you should be using a real accounting package like Peachtree to handle your invoicing and other accounting needs.  CCP is a shopping cart system, not an invoicing system.

You mentioned that other software can do this.  What other software are you talking about?

Thanks!

We need to make adjustments to incoming orders regularly and also need to manually input Amazon orders into the system manually and we don't have the tools needed to over rise certain thing, Shame really after so much work.  CCP just doesn't have all the features we seek so we're moving to another solution. We'll be moving from Volusions to Bigcommerce - both allow these features but obviously at a monthly price.
thank you

Re: editing an invoice

Ouch, they are really expensive.  It sounds like it would be cheaper to have the orders from CCP imported into Peachtree, then within Peachtree handle the price changes, shipping and everything else.  The TCO for Peachtree is much cheaper than moving to BigCommerce.

Good luck.
