organize products

We have several products that are sold in pack sizes so the same product will come in 5 pack, 10 pack, 25 pack etc. Right now these are all listed as individual products. Is there a way to set it up so that we only list the one product and then have a drop down menu where you could select the pack size you want?

Thanks,
John

Re: organize products

Set your volume amounts (one each for 5, 10, 25, etc.) here (CCP, not GBU for US software):

Home > ClickCartPro (GBU) > Catalog: Categories, Products and Options > Manage Product Option Selection Items

then create an option that will reference all the above and add it to the relevant product listing(s):

Home > ClickCartPro (GBU) > Catalog: Categories, Products and Options > Manage Product Options

Re: organize products

Thank you, it's a good solution but unfortunately I don't think it will work for me. I need to add the total price and not a base price change.

Re: organize products

By the sound of things you require option-based pricing.

I have never used it myself but, basically, the price per item is set by the option price; so a pack of 5 whatever @£1.00 (which needs to be the actual price for a pack of 5 whatever) would give you a total of price of £1.00 for the item (with a pack of 5 selected) if you were using option-based pricing, as opposed to a base price  £1.00, if you follow me.

The pricing method (option-based in this case) is selected through the product listing page.

Re: organize products

Hi John,

Don't know if you've figured it out, but I have just implemented what you require on my site - I have many products with same description, but 2 options each with different pricing, and before I implemented this change, I also had 2 product listings each. Now there is only one product listing and an option selection area (I use radio button) where the prices are shown for customer selection.

I do not use Recurring Price, Wholesale nor Affiliate pricing. If you do, then below may not be applicable to you.

In CCP, this requirement can be done with Product Options, and Product Option Selection Item, and require 2 changes in Online Store Products window - 1. Pricing Type change to "Option Based", and 2. Select the Related Product Options to point to the correct Product Option.

In your case, Product Options table will have an entry for each Online Store Product of yours, and a field to put in all your Option Selection Items (in your case, 5kn, 10kg, 15kg, etc.)

In Product Option Selection Items table, you should have as many options pricing entries for each option per product - eg. Product A 5kg, Product A 10kg, Product B 10kg, Product B 20kg, Product B 30kg, etc.

The Base Price Change field in Product Option Selection Items is a little confusing - but I just put in the online selling price for each 5kg, 10kg options and it worked fine.

Create a test product, option, and option selection items to see how it work, and how the various fields show up in the Product Display on your site.

You can see my example : http://www.paradi.com/ccp0-prodshow/Wav … undle.html

If you need more information how to implement this, you can email me privately at ncp@paradi.com. smile

Raymond Ng

Re: organize products

Hi,

I hope John jherr understood my post - looking at your questions I think it should work. The Total Price & Base Price change thing is not an issue as I have mentioned. At the end of the exercise, I end up with one Store Product each instead of many Store Products with same description but with different options.

Rgds,
Raymond

Re: organize products

It is straightforward enough - I, myself, have not used option-based pricing so far because multiple products in a listing mess up the lightbox display. - As far as I can tell it is not possible to make the lightbox display images for multiple images. - This would not be problem for some items, I know, but if (like me) it is important that a customer can see the product in large detail it is not good and can only be solved by displaying each similar product as a product listing in its own right.

I believe that the problem has been carried-over to CCP/Europacart 7.0, too.

Re: organize products

Hi John,

i think jherr will have to decide if the lightbox display is an issue. eg. 5kg, 10kg of the same product can have 2 different images of packing sizes displayed using the long product description field.

My products, with 2 options each, have the same software box display for both options. But again, i do not attempt to make my site more fanciful with difficult programming that I'll have to worry about every now and then.

About v7, that is why i am still at v6. many of the improvements are not high in priority for me, yet.

Regards,
Raymond

Re: organize products

Thank you both. Raymond, the option based pricing seems to be just what I need.

The lightbox display is not an issue for me but I still have to figure out if the weight change will be a problem. Do you think that adding the real weight of the product instead of the weight change in the Product Option Selection Item will work? Will this actual weight carry through to the shipping script or will it be treated only as a weight change? Either way I could make it work I was  just wandering which would be the best to use.

Thanks again, it took me awhile to figure out but well worth the time.

John

Re: organize products

Hi jherr John,

I do not have a weight issue and never tested it.

I believe if you set the Product Pricing Type to Option-Based in the Product table, then putting the real weight in Selection Items should work for shipping.

Another regular user Crown_Royale(think that's how it is spelt) has described a problem with similar requuirement like yours, but he could have used different combination of settings. A search on crown or 'option pricing' should find it.

It was well worth the effort for me as well. I am still considering to put all products(with or without options) into one single place like the Selection Items table so as to facilitate price changes.
