OMG I messed up bad need help please

I currently have ccp51 I am doing a complete redo of the site with ccp 7, I need 51 to be running while i complete 7 I messed up because i changed the password to the user on the database and i dont remember the old database password so i found altrdbms.csv and i changed the values to a different user but when i type in the password and upload the file it still doesnt work basically what im asking is what excryption method does ccp51 use to store the password so i can encrypt it and place the hash in the csv file so i can get the site back up
Thanks in advance,
Jeffrey Evers

Re: OMG I messed up bad need help please

As its old have you tried something like the OLD PASSWORD function in MySql- I am just guessing! could be some form of custom hashing of the password with something in the scripts.
From that its not gonna be md5 as it needs a 32 character field unless you are truncating it.
I take it you don't run backups of your database on a scheduled basis otherwise you would be able to restore the record from a backup.

I run db back ups but db back ups dont keep db passwords - unfortunately
and i just check I also run regular sql dumps and those dont store passwords either

Re: OMG I messed up bad need help please

Sorry I misunderstood- its the database password not the admin account password you have lost?

Re: OMG I messed up bad need help please

Assuming you are running MySQL (not sure what version you are on)
If you are on shared hosting or hosting administered by someone else, I assume you do not have the root login for the database. If that's the case then your hosting provider/admin should be able to reset your password.
If you have root access you should be able to do it yourself.
If you have lost the root password then have a look at MySql.com and search for "recover lost password". It assumes you have command line access to your server and can stop the mysqld.
Having said that the older myswl versions use what now called the OLD PASSWORD function to secure passwords, new ones use the PASSWORD function. If you have some sort of admin interface to your datbase you shoul dbe able to change it via that- via a hosting providers admin control panel for example.
