Hosting Companies

Hello,
Does anyone know of any good hosting companies that support all the requirements of CCP 6?
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Hosting Companies

There are several.  If you can get a VPS:

http://www.ubiquityservers.com/
http://www.liquidweb.com/

All meet the requirements although ubiquity is cheaper.  I recently setup a fellow CCP using their VPS.  Personally we run on full dedicated boxes.  The sites above do offer shared/virtual hosting as well and both offer 24x7 phone support as well as email support.

Re: Hosting Companies

Dave, I had no idea that Kryptronic offers hosting services... Do you offer dedicated servers as well?

Re: Hosting Companies

I've hosted my CCP with Servint.com for a couple years now, and the site has performed so flawlessly I hardly have to think about the server.  They give the same fanatical support I got from Rackspace, but without the big bucks.  Very, very happy with them.

Re: Hosting Companies

I would not recommend hosting CCP with 1and1 particualry if you have a busy site. They have a database size limit of 100mb which are quickly filled with stats data, if you reach the database limit the site goes down until you clear the database.

Also you can't install the private directory outside of the root (although this may not be the case anymore) which although not the end of the world is not as secure.

We provide hosting exclusively to our own UK clients but would take a few non clients if you struggle to find a good hosting company, drop us a PM anytime.

Re: Hosting Companies

I have heard a lot of bad things about 1&1 although personally I have never used them.  Also while I know Godaddy wasn't mentioned I would avoid them too.  They have slow servers (over sell them) and so far with the configs I have seen you can't install private directory outside web accessible folder which isn't good.  Also Godaddy is a terrible company to use for domains as their anti-spamming policy is if you are accused you are guilty period.  So if someone receives any email from and sends a complaint to Godaddy that you spam boom you are guilty and domain frozen.

clickcartpro.co.uk (GreenbarnWeb)!

I had a site hosted with 1and1 a few years ago and it was a real pain.

Re: Hosting Companies

I have never heard good things about 1&1 from anyone who has done much with their site.  For the hobbyist I guess 1&1 works but any business slanted person or company seems to complain about 1&1; at least that has been my experience.  I personally have never used them.
