Session Table Data

Hello community,

I was wondering if anyone knows how long we should keep data in the sessions table?  Is anyone clearing out older data?

Re: Session Table Data

Depends on how long you want your site to "remember" visitors.  Personally I keep it set to 12 months since the sites I deal with generally have a lot of repeat customers who don't necessarily buy frequently.  YMMV of course.

Re: Session Table Data

if we alter the time to keep sessions data from 360 days to say 240 days when would it take effect , is it immediate or run on a cron job
we need to reduce the size of this table so we can do a mysql emxport to reinstall on  a new server

Re: Session Table Data

Any changes in this area would take effect on the next time the daily cron script is ran.
