Stupid Question .... Sorry

I had a website tillybalou.com built ... I think it was CCP51.  Long story short lost the house due to credit crunch and moved down south in a caravan.  Took the online shop off air while I got sorted.

A couple of people then told me that our shop had disappeared!! ... again long story short ... I'd registered the domain with Easily 5 years previous.  Fasthosts, the hosting company eventually advised me that it was with Easily's sister co in America.  They told me they wanted £150 to put it back on otherwise they'd sell it.  I didn't have the money so they sold it!!!

Stupidly I thought I'd still be able to access the site but I can't sad ... does anyone have any suggestions ... there was 5 years worth of work on the site, not to mention my mailing list sad

Thanks ~x~

Re: Stupid Question .... Sorry

Sorry to have to tell you this but there's little to no chance of you being able to retrieve anything at this point.  Going to the domain shows that it's certainly be sold, unless your site was in Japanese, and there is likely nothing related to your site available anywhere at this point.

There is, possibly, a very small chance that Fasthosts may have your site backed up/archived but that's probably a very long shot and dependent on how long ago this all took place.  If they do have something they will almost certainly charge you for retrieving it in some fashion.

Re: Stupid Question .... Sorry

Well some good news I think Dave ... Fasthosts did still have my files on their server smile ... the bad news is I haven't got a clue what to do next and I don't have a web developer sad

This is the memo they sent ... can anyone help me with this ... obviously I'm willing to pay smile ~x~

Dear Denise,

Thanks for contacting us with your support enquiry.

The site files are still on our servers at this time.

You can download these via ftp using the server IP address instead of the host
name.

Using the guide below
http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/knowledge-ba … cle_id=510

you can attach to your site using the url ftp://213.171.193.5

If you are unsure of your ftp login details then you can reset these using the
following guide.
http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/knowledge-ba … cle_id=220

Thanks again for contacting us.

Kind regards,

Tim Andrews

Re: Stupid Question .... Sorry

What they are telling you is that you have the opportunity to transfer your files from their server to your computer.  From there, you could theoretically set the shop back up at a new location.  The process used to transfer the files to your computer is called FTP, requires a piece of software (CuteFTP, WSFTP, among many, many others), and is apparently described in the guide located at http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/knowledge-ba … le_id=510.  If this is all beyond you, contact Stephen at CartMod.com, as he is the only person left doing paid support work for CCP v5.1.

Re: Stupid Question .... Sorry

You should transfer the files (via ftp) to your own computer's hard drive as soon as possible, before they disappear for good.  I'm actually amazed that they still exist.  This is somewhat of a good omen so maybe your luck is ready to change :-)
