I think that article is pretty out of date... most of the sites listed in it go to either Kryptronic.com or CCP.com.  Nevertheless... the praise is well deserved!

Re: CCP 5.1 (Tiki) - Release Update

From scienceman:

>I was just curious.... are you the founder of this program and
>did you write the initial code / make most of the modifications.
>If not, how large a group of people do you work with? Is this
>your sole profession, or something you do on the side?

Yes, I am the founder/owner of Kryptronic and I have been the sole developer of CCP since it's birth in late 1999.

From PinkPanther:

>Not Nick here - but I read this about the company... IMO, they
>are pros and I am thrilled to have found this company and
>Clickcartpro!

Thanks.  That article is ancient history.  Kryptronic owns and runs CCP, and it's all mine.

From Todd:

>I think that article is pretty out of date... most of the sites
>listed in it go to either Kryptronic.com or CCP.com.
>Nevertheless... the praise is well deserved!

Yes sir.  Definitely ancient history.  Today CCP is supported by myself, our beta testers, this great community, and a number of partner firms like eDentity Media and Web Marketing Services as well as a large number of great hosts like Hosttec.net and Velocity Server.  It's a joint effort with a sole developer, I suppose.

Does that answer the questions?  BTW: It looks like Tuesday will be the day for tiki.  I got terribly sick the past two days and couldn't really do much on it.

Re: CCP 5.1 (Tiki) - Release Update

Nick,

I still have the original software I bought under the Accelecart name. I guess that was going on three years now.!?

The thing that still amazes me is that I have never had any down time unless I caused it by doing something I shouldn't have.

I can't say I built an empire on the internet, but this program has made life much easier than I ever expected it to be. I know I have said it before, but I will say it again. I don't know crap about perl and I don't want to, I have a business to run. This software has done everything I have wanted, as it has grown I have grown and I will stick with what works for me. With every new version there are new functions that I am ready to put to work to make my business grow. I will be a user of CCP until either I or Nick retires.

Re: CCP 5.1 (Tiki) - Release Update

Thanks.  To answer Joe, I just turned 30 in May.

I'm getting over this cold now (I guess it was a cold and not death knocking on the door lol) and have gotten back to coding/testing as of late last night.  I expect one more beta to go to the testers hopefully later today or early tomorrow that the final package will be based on.  Last night as my fever was breaking I wrapped up the following:

(1) Removed the Print Order Invoice function from admin and added an Invoice link to the Manage Orders screen.  Now you edit/delete/print orders from the same screen.

(2) Switched the order of the Manage Orders screen to show the most recent orders first in the list.

(3) Added more custom sale script examples - 5 total will be shipped with the program.

(4) Finalized the Quickbooks and Peachtree accounting software exports.

Much more to come as I get good news back from the testers...

Re: CCP 5.1 (Tiki) - Release Update

As a small business owner myself, I too will say that CCP has made my job getting our ecommerce site up and running rather easy.
I feel kinda lucky to have come across CCP during my 6 months of cart research and testing. I am constantly referring folks here in every web forum I am involved in when it comes to e-commerce sites.
It's good to know that Nick keeps the coding going after the 'break-up' at the fall of the dot-com days when HTML programming *alone* could bring you a phat salary.  There are dozens of options out there still selling as leftover remnants of dot-commers, but a very limited few are still developing and updating as often as Nick does, if at all. Additionally, few even come close to its features in the same price range; not even the 'stolen' version of it! :-)

Keep up the great work!

Re: CCP 5.1 (Tiki) - Release Update

Glad to hear your feeling better Nick... and I must say... getting some insight on the history of ccp was very interesting.

It seems many people have found a real solution for their ecommerce businesses in CCP.  I also have found the solution... except I have no product to sell with it!  Kind of a bummer!

So I guess my cozy little nook in the world of CCP is helping others get their stores online.  I am hopeful though that someday I will be able to offer some product that will sell like hotcakes... until then...

Maybe I could sell sprockets.  smile

Re: CCP 5.1 (Tiki) - Release Update

I can definitely say that working with the software has made things easier for me as well.  I'm a one person shop right now and even with the time saving on the software I'm still horribly behind right now.  (I still have a full time 40+ hour 'day job' I work)

The export to QuickBooks is going to totally cut my time down though.  I'm looking forward to that.

Hmmm.  Is that a financial only export or is there some way we can make the quickbooks accounting *and* inventory system interface with CCP?

Re: CCP 5.1 (Tiki) - Release Update

A new date for tiki (surprise surprise surprise). We're looking at the 24th or earlier - but the site says the 24th on the support schedule page.
I've got less than 10 functions that need coding finalization and beta testing, and the manual and upgrade scripting still need some work. We're very close.

Today a few cool things were added:

(1) Expanded discount functionality to allow admin to include/exclude certain products from discounts.

(2) Expanded discount functionality to decline unused discount balances (instead of just expiring them).

(3) Order numbers can be either a datestamp, epoch seconds or a random number all either prefixed by the order prefix, or not. Admin's choice.

(4) EU VAT & Canadian PST Permit logic was implemented.

(5) Larger images popups were added to the product detail pages to allow for three levels of images: thumbnail on category page, detail on product detail page, and extra large image in a popup off the product detail page. Admin can turn popups on/off for each product.

(6) Only ship to billing address function added.

(7) This one was for Jack - For checkouts where you're using a full SSL checkout (which is also an option in tiki) if you're collecting the credit card number, it's done on the same page as the order review. That saves one page - faster checkout!

As always, a few smaller fixes and additions were made as well.

Re: CCP 5.1 (Tiki) - Release Update

It seems like a lifetime to wait for the solution to most of my problems. I am extremely excited at all of the improvements.

The only improvement that I haven't seen is the images directory running in SSL?

As you suggested I have talked to other CCP 5 users and they are having the same problems I am.

With the built-in encryption, I don't see any need of using my SSL. Especially if I can't get it to work.

Re: CCP 5.1 (Tiki) - Release Update

I must say it will be worth the wait.  Yes there are a lot of nice enhancements, and new features in 5.1, Yes it is taking longer than everyone would like.  However

1) We want it to be complete on release don't we?
2) bug free would be nice wouldn't it?

I think the answers to all of this is YES!

I'm going to release a couple things that might help everyone when it IS released.  If this has been said I'm sorry to duplicate it, however it is one piece of important information.  In Tiki there is new UPS Online tools and FedEx tools.  However they require some previously not needed modules on the server.  You may want to run helper.cgi and see if you have all of them, and if not ask your ISP to get them isntalled so you will be good to go when it is released!

The UPS OnLineŽ Tools and FedEx DirectConnect methods require SSL connections, therefore the installation of non-standard Perl modules is required. The modules that need to be installed by the administrator of the webserver are: Crypt::SSLeay, HTML::Parser, HTML::Tagset, IO::Socket::SSL, libnet, libwww-perl, MIME::Base64, Net_SSLeay and URI. If you attempt to set up a connection with or otherwise use UPS OnLineŽ Tools or FedEx DirectConnect and these modules are not installed, an error message will be presented.

So, If you are jumping to use Tiki and all of it's functions, and you really want to use one of these new features, you need to make sure the above stuff is installed.

Nick, I know we are not supposed to devulge stuff, but I believe these features have been talked about, so I thought I'd give everyone a chance to make sure their server has the needed modules ahead of time. wink

Thanks very much Nick for being so responsive to your users!

Any time you can give us the option to shave off another page, we are getting a step closer to more $ale$... :-)

You may have addressed this, but just in case not:

Can you pls make it easy to change the printable invoice format to PORTRAIT (i.e., the default printer setting)?

I'm getting pretty burned out on having to manually change the printer orientation every time I print an invoice.

Thanks Nick... Looks like this update is gonna be a real whopper!

Wishin you the Seventh Wave,
JJ

Re: CCP 5.1 (Tiki) - Release Update

In tiki, the admin invoice is actually the same one produced for the customer on the front-end.  It's much cleaner and easier to read that way.  Both should have always printed as portrait, but now there's only one to worry about, and it's by default only 470 pixels wide (definitely portrait size).

Re: CCP 5.1 (Tiki) - Release Update

O.K. Looks like everyone in the forum are giving their bright ideas, so I don't want to stay behind, here is mine.

It would be a great feature if when adding a product to the cart:

1. If product was not in stock then the cart would take you in to payment page where you could only pay by off line processing and it  would read something like "item you requested is not in stock it will take x days to arrive in our store and we will ship the item immediately as soon as we recieve it.
You will only be charged at the time of shipment, If you wish to proceed please enter your CC details below if not try simular item in x categories.

2. If the product is in stock then it would take the customer directly to an online processing which would be charged immediately.

This would allow the merchant to sell even the products that is not in stock with the customers consent while giving the customer good service.

At the moment the merchant can only sell a product that he/she has in stock, assuming he uses the stock control feature of the cart.

Regards, Joey.

OK, The feature set is shall we say locked?  If we want this to get released any time soon we have to stop asking for features.  After 5.1 is released and we see all of the new features.  And you have had a chance to get use to it, then we can start a common thread of feature requests for the next version.

Re: CCP 5.1 (Tiki) - Release Update

Wait a second... just one more feature request.

I would like CCP to do my dishes and possibly wash my car.  Now... I know this probably won't make the 5.1 version... but maybe V 6.0?

I just think a shopping cart should be able to do that.  Sure would make my life easier. smile

Sorry for the weird off-the-topic humor.... I have had a bit too much caffiene today!

Hey, the way Nick has described It's already going to do that.

What I think the least a shopping cart should be able to do is to get out and do your daily shopping for you.

Every one is so serious here, so once in a while you need it.

Joey.

BTW. A Software without a feed back from  users would never get so sophisticated.
