I've finally got my SSL details from my host and have just tried to re-run the installer entering the secure domain details, after entering these and waiting for the 'updated ok' message I exited the installer and tried to go to my admin and enable paypal pro, I'm not being allowed into admin and on the website I cannot go to checkout, I've reset the secure path to the normal domain and all is well again, so something is wrong wrong with the secure bit.
The details that my host gave and the ones I entered are; https://mydomain.ssl-01.com
Am I missing something???

If you can't get to the secure url by entering it in a browser then it is a problem with you service provider and not ccp, your server doesn't have a DNS record for that url. I will say to me that look like a rather odd form of a secure url but it should still be valid.

Thanks John, I've just navigated to the SSL address and it says this;
If this is your website it is now active, please make sure you upload an index file to the htdocs directory.
What index file do I need to upload?? or should the installer have sorted it??
Thanks

Update; I've just been on the secure server htdocs folder via ftp, I have the following files/folder in there;
cgi-bin folder
index.html (just shows the 'if this is your website' message posted above)
phpinfo.php

You will need to have your service provider link the secure directory to your ccp directory if you are unable to make the change yourself, it not something ccp or the installer can do. You don't want two separate ccp files trying to run the same site, it would make an update nightmare.

Is the URL you posted what they actually told you the URL is? The use of mydomain in the name would tend to indicate that it was simply a place holder and that you needed to put your real domain name in its place.

No the actual domain was the one emailed to me from my provider after setting up the secure server, this is exactly what I typed in the installer;
https://kitchenfoods.ssl-01.com
The website address is wwwkitchenfoods.co.uk
John, with this in mind do you think I need to open a support ticket with my provider??? or can I do it myself somehow?
Thanks

Your provider will have to create the alias for you. Just ask them to alias your secure directory to your non-secure directory. CCP will take care of switching to the secure URL when it needs to.

Thanks guys, I've submitted a support ticket to my provider.

I have finally received a support ticket reply from my provider and they were not much help, the answer they gave is;
"Thank you for your query
This is not something we are able to do for you on a shared hosting platform unfortunately."
Anyone got any ideas on how I can resolve this??

Thanks John, I'll submit another ticket asking the question.

Just received a reply, at last! the question I asked in the support ticket was basically what dh783 asked above in the last post, here is the reply;
Thank you for your query
Unfortunately not. If you are having problems using the SSL folder then you will need to contact the people you are connecting to. If they require something that is not possible with shared SSL (e.g. a certifiocate on teh domain) then you require a dedicated server.
You cannot point a folder on a SSL server to another location on another computer as that wouldn't be secured.
Sorry we cannot help you more than this.
Any ideas on a solution anyone?????

If your service provider is using to separate servers to handle secure and non-secure urls then I think your only choice is to move the site to the secure server and run the whole site under https. There is no way to separate what ccp want to run securely to a separate server. The only other choice that I see is to get a dedicated server and you own certificate.

Thanks John, would running it all on the secure server affect Google results or have any detrimental effect?? if so I would prefer to leave it as is and simply keep using the paypal standard payment option.

It shouldn't have any affect on your google ranking as the actual urls will not change it just which server port is answering the call (but I am no expert on google rankings). The only real effect is the processing time or load on the server as it will have to encrypt everything.
