Hi All,
I'm moving an installation that has been modded by ATS some time ago, and have found out while ftping the site that i have 679mb of core files all between 10-12mb each in my ccp51 folder
When did my istallation grow this big and how??? Is this ATS updates? I have many ccp51 sites, none that have bloated to this size.
Is it a case that i just need the last one possibly, they number from core.581 to core.32508
Can anyone shed any light on what these files are and if they are needed?
I'd rather not FTP 700mb back up, so will wait for an answer.
Many thanks in advance
Rich

No idea what they might be but they aren't part of CCP AFAIK.

Got a feeling it could be the ATS lightspeed cache. If anyone has any information on dis-arming this safetly, any help would be appricieated.

I'm not familiar with the ATS lightspeed cache mod, but it seems pretty improbable that it would occupy 600mb. After all, the whole site is probably only a couple hundred MB tops, so what could the mod possibly be caching? Unless those are old cache files, in which case one wonders why they aren't periodically deleted.

Well it's a mystery to me.
I have ftp'd the site back without these and it seems to work fine, i'll just keep an eye on them appearing!

Your website is hosted on a unix machine and those are core dumps. If they're recent creations, you should bring them to the attention of your host since they indicate a significant problem. Although if your host is paying attention they will have immediately noticed them.
A core dump is the result of a unix process terminating ungracefully (i.e. crashing). The file is useful only for troubleshooting, and possibly retrieving data you were working with when the program crashed.
