Cpanel installation file permissions

Hi,

Initially having trouble getting installation script to run, I set file permissions to 777 on private dir and 755 on cart dir plus 751 on the files. This got the installer to complete without any errors. But, it hasn't actually installed anything. Anyone had this problem?

Re: Cpanel installation file permissions

This thread started in the version 6 forum Rachael but version 6 isn't available through cPanel so I moved it over here.  Perhaps I shouldn't have and it needs to move back smile

Re: Cpanel installation file permissions

Well, I was only wondering if it was an installation *through* cPanel, in which case you would be right - it would have to be 5.1.  Or if it was an installation *on* a cPanel machine, in which case it could be either.  The verbiage about 'private directory' doesn't really apply to 5.1, and in conjunction with the reference to the installer, it was enough to make me at least ask the question.  I'm going to go ahead and move the thread back to where the OP put it, at least until we get an answer.

Re: Cpanel installation file permissions

For version 6 there are no files to install beyond the 5 things that are in the installation zip file.  Everything else is downloaded and installed in the correct place as the installer is run.  Normally the default permissions used when the installation zip files are FTPed to your site are correct and things will work.

Re: Cpanel installation file permissions

It is version 6. I have reinstalled with the default permissions but get 404 errors when I try to access any pages through the admin interface.

Re: Cpanel installation file permissions

Did you specify http or httpS for the secure link when running the installer?  If you did run the installer again and specify http.

Re: Cpanel installation file permissions

You will need to get a certificate installed for the site to be able to use https .
