how to keep control after customer has ordered.

Hi,

We have recently (about 6 months ago) launched our site wwwsushisushi.co.uk all is going well, too well to be honest and here lies the problem. We're getting 20-30 orders per day and we are starting to loose track of what has been sent, what has been packed but not sent and the date items were sent if a customer inquires.

The current method we use is updating the order status from pending shipping, to partially shipped to Completed. But this is a slow process and is not detailed enough to help customers with there order enquiries.

Is there a way of noting within click cart WHEN an order was sent and also can you add more status's to the order, like "order processed, awaiting shipment" for example.

Another problem we're having is that we may want to print out 50 invoices from the previous 2 days but rather than checking boxes and printing in batch (as we do with the invoices in our ebay store) we have to individually go into each order, bring up the printable version of the invoice and print that. This is very time consuming. Does anyone know a way around this.

Looking forward to your help as we're flat out and need to get all our xmas orders out on time!

There are comment fields available for every order, one for internal (store owner only) command and one for external (customer viewable) comments.  Sounds like you could make use of the former field.

I believe Howard sells a modification that includes batch printing and order management though I can't find a link to it on his site right now.

When looking at the list of orders clicking on Update allows you to modify virtually any part of an order including both of the comment fields I mentioned.
