RewriteRule and Upgrading to v6?

Is it possible to use the RewriteRule in some manner so that when a site is upgraded from v5 to v6 the links will not be broken (and cause us to lose SEO points)?

Yes that is what you would want to do, you just have to change where they point too making them into ccp6 url information.

If your links were re-written in v5, I dont believe they can be re-written again. You can't rewrite a rewrite I don't believe.

You can and that's exactly what the HD SEO XMOD does.  The "trick" is getting the order of the rules correct.
