Re: Curious about other CCP websites

Here is my project, perpetually under construction smile  I have to stay in the shallow end of the pool when it comes to php, so mine is based on a zipskin.  Right now I only have a selection of my dog training equipment up.

Re: Curious about other CCP websites

Hello Craig and glad to see you have your site up and running.

I really like the BlackDog company logo. It POPS!
It loads quick on my end and looks great.

Chugiak Alaska? That must be rough on your shipping costs. Seems like most of your customers would definitely be a few shipping zones away. Does that pose any problem?

Good Luck

BigDog.. Hey keep that harness away from me.. Wooff! Growl!!  big_smile

Re: Curious about other CCP websites

LOL.  Thanks.  My sister is a professional designer and did the original logo.  I have tweaked it a bit using GIMP (an open-source version of Photoshop if you're not familiar with it).

Being in Alaska definitely creates shipping issues.  I outbound almost everything with USPS.  Shipping times have been good.  I use a freight forwarder to get my costs down for stuff I get in from vendors.  I use dropshipping too for some things.

Good luck to you too.

Re: Curious about other CCP websites

west4, your site looks ok at best in my personal opinion.  The graphics are sharp and bright but there's very little of it. Which does make the page load fast smile

The search button is slightly larger than the rest of the buttons on that page.

Suggestions: Ok i looked over it again, now I know what's bothering me... The smurf kids.  They need to be either the opposite end of the gradient or on top of the gradient. I would flip them with the logo so the logo is on the top left, since we all read from left to right. Mirror the kids and remove that super dark blue over them.

Bigdog your site is simple and straight forward. I like.

-----

The dog site looks amazing, very nice choice / contrast of graphics!

here's what mine's supposed to look like, i will post the url later this week when it's more complete.

Re: Curious about other CCP websites

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback theramedix,

If anyone knows how to get the search box lined up in Explorer let me know as I have been tweaking and tweaking but it only lines up in Firefox and Safari... then if you line it up in explorer its out in firefox...Doh!

We tried the smurfs on the right and different colour combos etc but came to the conclusion that this layout was the most appealing. the company logo lends its self to being on the right as its shape closes the line.

Anyhoo thanks for the interest.

Cheers,
Bruce.

Try adding vertical-align: middle; to the #skin_fenavhmsearch ID in your style file and see how IE likes it.

Hi Dave,

Still seem to be about 1 pixel taller than in Firefox...

Cheers,
Bruce.

Re: Curious about other CCP websites

looks great, it's a little narrow on my screen res of 1600 wide but looks clean. i run firefox and the text "(Standard Shipping Only). " on the home page over runs the container area. Looks great otherwise! we had our site quite narrow bu have recently widened it so we can aring the central areas products in 2 rows. Take a look: wwwsushisushi.co.uk

Re: Curious about other CCP websites

I like it, very clear. OK my personal feedback. I think you should try to break up the catagories somehow as they look a bit like one long paragraph. Also I'de put them in the top left and the store policy ones below.

Good luck with the site.

Stu

Our site has been live for a year. New to PHP so it has been trial and error but pretty much error free.
