I am all the way down to the next to last step.
-===================================
(5) Use CCP admin to configure a connection to the SQL server - it
will let you now because it believes all tables are in CSV mode.
Enter in your new user/pass now. Verify a connection could be made.

I've hit a snag. I am able to login to the store now BUT I cannot modify the
Configure RDBMS Connection settings. The page comes back blank with no
settings to modify. When I do click on it, I get a DB error.
*EDITED TO REMOVE ADMIN LINK*
I think I should be able to select the place in which I want the program to
access the db.
Am I missing it somewhere? I've searched and searched for it but cannot find
anything other than the RDBMS Connection settings.

This relates back to this original problem.

Can you please provide the text of the error you are seeing now? I removed your link as it posed a security risk in being there, but I couldn't see the error without your password anyway. You are in the right place; we just need to get through this error.,

Here is the message I got from the guy I hired to work on this.
"I doubt it will do much good to provide the error message but here it is:
Script Execution Error
The following error was just encountered:
Can't call method "prepare" on an undefined value at
/home/jsbur2/public_html/jsburlysflashlights/cgi-bin/ccp51/library/common/da
tabase.pl line 618. SELECT
config_id,config_column_creator,config_description,config_varchar,config_not
_null,config_display_type,config_display_value,config_default_value,config_d
isp_inlist FROM
I am pretty confident the reason I am getting the error is because there is
nothing for the script to pick up on. Once you click 'Configure RDBMS
Connection' and select MYSQL fromt eh drop down and say 'ok' than there is
nothing to edit. It's a blank page. You click OK and you get the above error
message."

I believe this problem is related to a corrupted table, most likely the one called altrdbms.csv. My suspicion is that table got corrupted when someone attempted to manually set a username or password for the database. I recommend reloading that table from the zip file, being sure to transfer it in BINARY mode to keep it intact.

Here is the last response from the person working on this.
"Hello,
I've done as suggested and it's the same. No difference.
Please ask them about step 5.
(5) Use CCP admin to configure a connection to the SQL server - it
will let you now because it believes all tables are in CSV mode.
Enter in your new user/pass now. Verify a connection could be made.
Where do I do this at?
Ask them where in the admin CP you are suppose to change the DB username and
password along with the paths to the DB. "

In the admin, at Database Utilities -> Configure RDBMS Connection
If they still can't get it, I strongly recommend contacting Stephen at cartmod.com. He still does paid support for version 5.1 and he knows his way around this software... which your current tech, with all due respect, obviously does not.

Hmmm,
They say that they have done that...but that the page is blank. Nothing there. This is three people that tell me that.

The page is blank because one or more of the tables are hosed or because of some other problem caused by someone working on your site. I don't doubt that the page is blank... I do believe you (them), but is not a failure of the software - it is a problem caused by someone's manipulations. At this point, I think this issue really needs to be escalated to a CCP specialist and Stephen at cartmod.com is the only one left that I am aware of (Kryptronic no longer offers support for version 5.1).
