Hi,
This may have already been discussed or already being developed for zuma but i think a needed addition to ccpro is an image thumbnail creation module.
Quite simply it would create maybe two different sized version of any uploaded product image. For example i upload my "large" product image and the module creates two more from it.. "product detail" image and "category image" the dimensions of these images would be specified in admin just as they are now, but rather than having to upload three different images, the module creates them for you.
Both Image::Magick and GD are supported on all servers (all **NIX flavour servers at least have GD installed) so shouldnt be hard to do..
Hope this helps.

No offence, but there's dozens (if not hundreds!) of products that will let you create thumbnails from images, just google for "image thumbnail creator" and you can find lots.
IMO such functionality wouldn't really be needed in CCP.

But your missing the point...
This would still require the admin to upload all the different sized images to the different directories and specify the image when adding a product.
Imagine this...
You add a product to your site and instead of having to have previously created your product images in all the varying sizes and uploaded them to the site (which is in an entirely different part area of the site to the add product page), you have an image upload option within the product details page. This allows you to upload a single full size image and then the module creates two more for your category product and item detail and associates them with the product.
Now i dont know bout you, but i would rather that, than to have to create 3 different images just for one product which i also have to upload to the different directories and then remember the image name to enter into my product description page.

Yes, that's correct.

Well I simply used Photoshop's batch edit program to create the different sized images for each of the thumb/ main/ extra large items. They were each stored in different directories so I could use the same name for each image field in product.csv and the images were uploaded to the site into the relevant folders. This was for about 300 items.
Also, however, on some items I use a different image for the thumbnail than for the main and XL pics because the thumb shows just one view, but the main and XL pics have two images amalgamated into one eg front and back views. I wouldn't want that in the thumb because it wouldn't be at all clear.
<shrug> works for me.

Granted ther are occassions when a thumbnail image of the large image would not work. In your situation for example when you have different category and product detail images.
I good work around for this would be to have two options within the add product page..
1. Use the image upload function to resize the image as i have suggested.
2. To upload individual images (catgeory, prod. detail and large) for the listing. Or simply use the existing method of adding images to products and simply enter the image names.
I do think for the majority of users the image thumbnail creation would be the preferred option...or maybe im on my own here :-(

I've written an ImageMagick module for CCP 5.1 that does exactly as you describe. It also allows multiple images per product to be automatically displayed at the same time. If interested e-mail me at eric.heflin@impartif.com

hi
I would like to further encourage the developement of image::Magick module to complete such tasks. As i see it, TheThinker has created this plug in, and has installed the module on multiple servers. For me, the point is clear. As I very well know that I can use photoshop to not only batch command over 1000 images; save them to 3 seperate folders, perhaps have different compositions for each size, and ftp to the site all in under 20 mins; THE PEOPLE who update my sites do not. they need the simplified admin section to be laid out and done for them. not only would this add to the user friendly and utilized feel to CCP, but will solidify the program as it then becomes an efficient powerhouse for selling products online. Right now, I added this functionality in my admin section, where the store administrator uploads an image with an upload button while filling out info for a new product. as of good use of perl, when submitted, not only does the image get optimized and processed into the 3 sizes, but renamed as the "product_id.jpg" and linked in the database automatically. In following that logic, I do the same thing for category creation, where the user selects a category template, and uploads one image (named anything), description, and its parent link (main category it belongs to); and the category is created and linked automatically in the DB.
to conclude, I am looking forward to see this technology, or the option of such custimization, be fully utilized in CCP6 with import and update modules and hope to see image:magick, or some alternative installed!!!

I would like to see an Image Upload feature within the product pages themselves, (not having to go and upload, then copy and past the image name). So that an image can be uploaded as a product is added. I see this feature on many of the other shopping carts and it would be great to have CCP have it as well.

Do not listen to this fraud. Eric Heflin owes me $USD880.00 and won't pay up. His CCP 'reseller and support' License has been revoked by Nick/Krpytronic.
This is a warning to others to simply not deal with this person.

Please see the following link, where you clearly acknowledge that the mod is installed and working properly on your site.
I'm sorry you have "cold feet" regarding this mod, but I offer a 2 week free bug fix policy, but no refund policy. I think the real issue is that you want a refund since all of your work, and my work, and others work on your site will be lost when you upgrade to CCP 6.0.

Steven,
It is unfortunate that you are having problems with this mod. Earlier this year we had planned on developing a image manipulation module that would streamline the entire store image process, but when we spoke with Eric, he mentioned his firm would be doing this module, so out of respect and consideration for him, we opted not to develop the module. This was back in early February. Since then, TheThinker (Eric) has dropped off the forums, we have not heard anything of any such module.
Therefore, we are going to go ahead and begin development on a module which will improve Clickcart's functionality and ease of use for managing product images. Our pricetag for this module once it is complete will be very reasonable.

I might be your first customer! I think this would be a great enhancement to CCP. Especially if you were able to upload one image and have three images created for the thumbnail, regular, and blowup images.
This would be a great timesaver if entering lots of products!
