Paypal, Optional Accounts, Cvv2

Since CCP 5.1 came along and integrated paypal's IPN feature, PayPal itself has seen some vast (IMHO) improvements.

It seems like they are now acting as a merchant account, not only processing paypal account holder transactions, but processing non-paypal credit card transactions, even implementying use of CVV2!

I'm impressed! I don't have a merchant account, so I (humbly) had to resort to using PayPal for now. However, now that PayPal will take credit cards (using cvv2) this opens up another door.

I want to enable credit card transactions, and have all of the CC information passed to PayPal. So I guess I would have to credit another gateway for Paypal specifically for the credit card processing, and have all this info sent to PayPal. Not sure if this can be done, but would be great to achieve.

Re: Paypal, Optional Accounts, Cvv2

Please post a link to a revised PayPal API document and I'll review it to see if it's possible.  As I understand it, we need to use the same common interface and PayPal handles all of the credit card stuff on their side.  I could be mistaken, though - so point me to a doc!  Thanks.

Re: Paypal, Optional Accounts, Cvv2

I am very interested in this too. I have been trying to figure out how to do this for a while now. Here's a link to the API documentation for paypal:

I also have an API certificate that was issued to me, but I have no idea what to do with it now that I have it. If you want to take a look at that too Nick, email me and I'll forward it as an attachment.

Hope we find a solution for this!

Re: Paypal, Optional Accounts, Cvv2

Well I posted a message over in the dev forums at paypal, about gathering the CC information in a cart and passing it to paypal.. like if they were a merchant. they said it couldn't be done. user needs to go to their site to finish the transaction.

Has anyone figured this ot yet? Even though PayPal is very simple to use, customers don't aleays know what it is and are leary of it. They don't realize that they have to enter the same information for PayPal OR a regular credit card transactio..anyway...having PayPal without a PayPal account option would be very worthwhile.
