Does anyone know if there is a mod, a way of remvoing -
Step 2
Shipping Info
Step3
Review
These two pages that a customer has to go through when making an order?
I really do think its putting lots of my customers off, as loads of people are adding things to the basket and getting to the checkout but dont seem to make it any further.
It would be good if there was a way of showing the postage charges in the basket and then on step 1 checkout and then when the customer selects the payment method it takes them straight to it to make payment.
I am convinced now I'm loosing lots of potential orders because of this!!
Please say there is way to do this

Yes, there is, but it requires alot of heavy mods to a few of the PERL scripts. There have been a few requests for this, but due to the complexity of the mod it needs to be a custom job. Email me if you would like a quote.

I'm convinced the biggest problem with CCPro is the checkout procedure. On our site of all the people who get as far as it takes to create an invoice in the system, about 60% do not follow through to completion, for whatever reason. These are customers that we paid dearly to get through paid advertising.
I was under the impression that v6.0 is going to have a one page checkout. Does anyone know if that is true?
These are dark days in River City.

I'd noticed several events like this, ie the product reports page says items were added to the cart but then not ordered.
I couldn't figure out why, but a friend has pointed out that the P&P information on my site isn't easy to find (it's in the FAQ file, but it seems people aren't looking at that!)
So what's happening is that people are creating "experimental" orders, going into the checkout and stopping at the second page when they actually find out what the postage charge is going to be.
I've realised that I've done this on other sites too where the easiest way to find the carriage charges are by this method.
So what I'm going to do is to create a separate "shipping/ delivery costs" page on the "info" tab to make sure people can find out the costs before they get to the checkout.
This may help solve the problems for the other posters in this thread too.

Hi
Many store owners want to reduce the number of steps in the checkout, but the research shows that the number of steps does not affect the abandonment rate. The best thing you can do is provide checkout progress information (standard in the UK version)
See this link :
Another point to remember is that in the UK it is advisable to have the review page before you request payment.

In our case, I don't think shipping cost is a factor. We have flat rate shipping, and its shown right on our home page, as well as on a separate page that explains our shipping in detail. However, it might help to list it in the product description, to know for sure they saw it.
I've heard the research on abandonments, but I still think if you could cut down the time spent in checkout, you could see improvement.
We have a heading on each step of the checkout that says "Step 2 of 3..., etc". Maybe we could say something like "Don't give up you're almost there!" or, "Hang in there, Dude!" Maybe not.
I just added this to the product display (we use the default display):
"Shipping is $5.95 by UPS ground for orders to $75. Above $75, shipping is by 2nd Day Air. Above $150, shipping is FREE by 2nd Day Air. For Post Office delivery, order by phone, 1-800-530-3775. The same charges apply."
This is our complete shipping description. This should eliminate any question about shipping.

Yes! Nick: *PLEASE* take note of this for Zuma!!
Even I, knowing the ins and outs of the 5.1 cart checkout system, find it tedious, imagine what it's like for a new user.
Taking their money should be quick and painless, not long and drawn out.
If there's only one shipping option (as I have on my site), why should they have to go through a page just to confirm it? Why can't the system just skip it?
I'd love to see the process simplified.

I get complaints every day about the complexity and time needed for checkout.

We are researching the feasibility and complexity of developing such a addon module for Clickcart 5.0 and 5.1. A one-page checkout is possible, but with most stores, depending on shipping and payment method used, it will most likely be more feasible to create a 2 page checkout. In any case this will cut down on the amount of steps it will take to complete an order.
I'll keep the community posted.

definately keep us posted!

For those interested, we are starting development on a 'Express Checkout Module' that will cut the checkout process from 4 to 2 pages. Release date is scheduled for end of March. This module will be compatiable with 5.0 and 5.1 and will take in consideration different payment methods and shipping methods. Stay Tuned!

Did this actually get released - if so, where can I find details ?

Yes, this has been developed as a one page checkout that also performs a variety of other functions as well. You can view it at:
Due to the nature of this mod it is basically a custom install for each site. Shipping, payment methods and other elements need to be considered.

Pardon me but that post is 3 months old. I took it that phunter121 was asking a general question about the prospect of this being available. I didn't see any direct notation to superhero2000 in his question.
In regards to 'jumping in'...isn't this a question/answer forum? Someone has a question and people have the answer? :-(
I'm not here to bicker, pookie....just here to help. Some people may have taken exception to that for personal reasons.

i am not here to bicker with you either.

There's nothing 'encrypted' about that statement. People have loyalties, favorites, distrust, mistrust, misunderstandings, misconceptions, and suspicions. We can't help that. All we're trying to do is answer the questions and provide the community with things they've been asking for since 5.0 came out.
