More Quickbook Pro 2003 Problems

Hey guys,
Since I first purchased CCP5.1 in October of last year, I've never been able to complete one successful Quickbooks import.  Instead I waste half a day every time I go to do my accounting, get a head ache, and eventually give up and manually input all the invoices in by hand the next day. Every single time I go to import a file, even with only one customer, I get this message: "Quickbooks has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I have an updated version of CCP5.1 with the quickbooks mod installed.
I have a licensed version of Quickbooks 2003 Pro
I have read through every post on this site that is able to be found by searching of Quickbooks and none of the suggestions help
I download my .iif file in ascii mode
I have double checked all my accounts in both Quickbooks and the Quickbooks settings and to the best of my knowledge everything is correct.
I can download transactions from eBay and paypal without incident, but everytime I download from CCP it doesn't work.

I originally owned Quickbooks Pro 2002 and thought that it may have been the issue. So I purchased Quickbooks 2003 Pro.

I have tried this two different computers and the error still occurs.

Please help me to get this figured out. If this is a time consuming problem, I am willing to pay. This has been among the most frustrating experiences of my life...

Have you applied the Nov update which tackled some of the errors when importing into Quickbooks?

Try downloading the iif in BINARY mode.  Does that make a difference?

Re: More Quickbook Pro 2003 Problems

If you are getting the message "Quickbooks encountered an error..." it means that Quickbook has crashed.  Most products, esp. accounting import modules, should have _very_ robust file format error detecting code.  It sounds to me like you should send the sample file to Intuit's support dept and ask them for help as well.  It could be a corrupted Quickbooks data import filter file.   Even if the data is bad, Quickbooks should gracefully reject the file with a meaningfull error message that will help you diagnose the problem.  Since QB is crashing, I'd put part of the burden in solving the problem on Intuit.

Also, take a look at the exported file from CCP (using a quality ASCII text edtor) -- it is ASCII text and is mostly human readable.  Export the same from Quickbooks and compare them to look for any obvious differences.    This will also help confirm or eliminate Nick's assertion that the file is corrupted.

Hope this helps.  Please post the fix once you find it so we'll all know.

Regards,
Eric

I believe Notepad should do the work.

I'd be interested in how this turned out as I am getting a similar problem.

Re: More Quickbook Pro 2003 Problems

What error messages are you guys receiving from Quickbooks?  Everything has been corrected on the CCP side as of the 11/24/2003 update.  Do you have all account names entered correctly in CCP?

Re: More Quickbook Pro 2003 Problems

It does work fine. I suspect its the account/item names that are wrong. I did have problems initially but stuck with it. I think that what would be really useful is a good 'How To' with screen shots. Any volunteers?

I'll see what I can do if there are no other takers.

Re: More Quickbook Pro 2003 Problems

I narrowed down my problem to the 'SHIPVIA' field in the QB download file. When I replaces this field with spaces, I managed to load the file. I am on QB 1999, so it maybe I need to upgrade. Having said that, the SHIPVIA field is availbale on this version.

I am having heaps of other problems that I am slowly working my way through, but I think this is my lack of QB knowledge, rather than a problem with ccp
